I disassembled Rally X

Recommended Posts

Before I start posting code or creating my own version I wanted to ask for input.

The Team Pixelboy version requires the SGM ram/sound chip thingy and is 32k, loads in at $2000 of the SGM.

The Rom I have strait from the MSX library is 16k and loads in at $4000

After studying both roms.  Aside from the sound and controllers, which could easily be converted.  Why does it need the SGM?

I may be off in my analysis but I see nowhere that this uses or needs vasts amount of RAM which I would guess was the only other reason.

Could someone chime in because I would not mind releasing my own version, the code or both, that works on stock.

BTW, I got the same vibe from Mappy.
It's not a complicated game yet aside from the PSG I see no need for the SGM.

I'm confident you'll find that the need for the SGM is not *required* in a fundamental sense for several of the games that really upon it, but rather it's often used to simplify porting of titles.  I personally thought it was a great age successful experiment when Ed designed and built it, but never saw the need to acquire one as I always perceived it as more of a system changer than an expansion.  That said, I'd be interested in your stock conversions of any SGM titles.
