LOL, after 11 years, Rockstar adds an anti-cheat to the PC version of GTA5/Online

Recommended Posts

Just pushed it this morning. The updater install requires the user to accept the terms before install because it is a Kernel level anti-cheat (BattlEye).

I mean, I get that they don't want people cheating/modding because they want to make all that Shark Card/microtransaction money after the fact - but what the almighty fudge? This game came out in 2013. It's a bit late to be doing this now.

Not sure how comfortable I am with giving R* Kernel level access to my system.

And.... it's been defeated.

Apparently you can disable Battleye in the rockstar launcher menu for story mode, and then after you start the game, at the landing page you can load certain mod menus, stary the game in story mode, then switch to online and the mods work in online.

LOL.

LOL.

So they waited 11y to release it just to be defeated and in any case support for such “drivers” shortly removed by M$ … money well spent.
