Haha... Atari sauce...

Recommended Posts

Well, putting your name on a product doesn't automatically mean "bad idea" hot sauce could be good. What was the practical function of the speaker hat? I could have seen Atari hats (range of quality and styles of hats with Atari logos and themes) and headsets, either straight earphone types, or maybe some with built in radio and/or music players. But a hat with just speakers? Who else did that one, ever? Will they at some point be collectible at least? (Maybe, doubt to many will survive due to over all impractical and undesirable, meaning the few that want one decades down the road may find an intact set hard to find, despite their current unsellable nature)

They are just finally leaning into the love of tacos.

What's stupid about airpods? That you can't disturb people around you? 🤔

That's so true. Wearing and playing music for all to hear is kind of rude. That being said, having a speaker hat when working in the garden would be nice to play some zen-like music. But it's not worth the price tag just for that.

I suppose one exclusive licensing deal with two well renowned chefs who have launched various sauces before can be fun. However if we get various Atari beers, Atari chips, Atari soaps, Atari deodorants, Atari dust cloths etc through a multitude of licensing deals, it soon will become tedious and one can ask what the brand really stands for.

Same thing any brand wants…money.

Profit needs to come from  somewhere.  Or a company fails to exist.

In the 90’s Porsche almost died.

Purists bitch they started to sell the Cheyenne in the mid ‘00 but it saved the company.

The Porsche SUV’s are their largest sellers now…by far.. and the company is the most successful as it has ever been.

That is what has allowed them to not only still sell the 911 but to continually improve it.

Argue dilute brand image all you want- but if a company still makes awesome products while using stuff you may not like to survive… so be it.

Might want to take a look at the BIG names here doing the same thing

You are talking about a car company that made another car.  Not a former computer pioneer that is sticking it's name to everything from crypto to hot sauce, to hotels, etc.  Why not go after Atari branded toilet paper, especially now they have the hot sauce right?  No such thing as brand dilution, just keep splattering shit through a jet engine, and see how many little particles stick to the wall.  Profit!

SUVs are being pushed because not only that's what the suburban moms want, the CAFE standards encourage the manufacturers to make more SUVs vs regular cars to lower the MPG required for the overall fleet sales.  Hence the death of station wagons, those counted as cars and not light trucks, or off road.  The laws became a loophole to make even bigger vehicles.  The rules became a loophole that backfired.

To be honest, I've seen quite a few Porsche branded products that aren't cars too. The difference is that Porsche still is a premium brand, something many people want to associate with even if they can't afford one of the car models. Atari isn't and frankly never has been a premium brand where people who can't afford a console or computer would settle with at least a wallet with the Fuji logo.

If we compare with cars, where is all the Pontiac merch? I find it strange that GM put that brand in the storage.
