What is that? An add for atarimania or something?

I think the consensus is a new Centipede game maybe in the survival horror genre. I mentioned this is the video comments, but do those look like Kee Games VCS consoles to anybody else?

We have a new Yars in the Metroidvania category, and now a new Centipede game in the Survival Horror category? I wouldn't mind that. I'm a big brave dude but centipedes have always frightened me. There's nothing like seeing one of those suckers in my bathroom late at night as soon as you turn on the light.

Yup, definitely Kee Games 2600 units in the "vault"

Is Centipede really the best-IP Atari has for a survival horror game though?

Five Nights at Bubsy's?

I could have dug a Centipede horror game. I can just see sub-boss battles against beetles and rollie-pollies.

Also, I don't understand Atari doing a crowd funded card game. It seems like they might not have confidence that the game would do well without some support before the fact.

Watching this video I remember the infocom "horror" game "lurking horror". Opening the gamebox you were surprised by a centipede! Maybe it's a mix of both and atari finally bought the rights to the games of infocom 🤣

I think Infocom is still owned by Activision now Microsoft?    So they are in that big corporate limbo where they aren't profitable enough for to release as compilations any more, or worth licensing out, so they sit and rot in a vault somewhere.

But if Atari was to strike such a deal, I'm sure they'd get the Activision 2600 titles also

Lots of Easter eggs in that video on top of the Atari Club egg:

  • 1265 Borregas Ave is the address of Atari's first HQ in Sunnyville CA (which was demolished by Google earlier this year).
  • At 30 seconds, during the "codebreaking" sequence, "T.Drewitz" is Tyler Drewitz, Director at Atari X.
  • Also during that sequence, April 26, 2014, is the date that the infamous landfill was dug up (where, fun fact, they recovered more Centipede cartridges than E.T. cartridges).
  • And 1972 is, of course, the year Atari was incorporated and Pong was released.

Also some fuzzy clips of the Centipede commercial (the one where the Centipede comes out of the screen and grabs the player, not the rap).

Not sure what this is, but I'd play it! I love Atari and I love survival horror games.

What would be super cool is if the enemies you were trying to survive attacks from were classic Atari villains come to life.

Centipedes, yes, but also monkeys from Kangaroo, spiders from Black Widow even the FBI agent from E.T. Gulp!
