Crash7
Okay here's the issue that just started with my Super Pro tonight. Any game from Mattel that has Mattel Electronics as the main screen? No matter what button I press on either controller, it doesn't work and that screen just stays there. CollectorVision GORF? The disc doesn't work on either player it just stays in the middle of the screen. But BurgerTime cartridge? Works like a charm. I can press the 1 button on the controller for BurgerTime and it will work when I select the players. But when I try to press the 1 button to tell Venture that's the number of players I want? Nothing. The enter button doesn't work either. So what would be causing this console to be that erratic as to what will and will not work all of the sudden? I'm hoping that something got loose or just dirty. Thanks for the help as always fellas.... Edited September 29 by Crash7
mr_me
Does Burgertime work with either controller? I'd try unplugging the controllers and testing with one controller plugged in at a time.
Crash7
Okay after careful re-inspection BurgerTime: Direction pad works on both players All four side buttons work on player one. The top side buttons do not work on player two. I cannot get past the main Mattel Electronics title screen on any Mattel cartridge using either controller. It just stays on that screen. He's about ready to take a trip back to Tulsa.
+Psycho Stormtrooper- Rog
You should have kept one of the new super pro systems you had. It always good to have a back-up

Did you test this with one controller unplugged from the system.

+-^CrossBow^-
For those curious, @Crash7's Super Pro is a bit of an oddity. It is using mishmash of some Intellivision 2 chips but also some other different setups. His doesn't have the pair of 3906 transistors for instance. The heatsinks that were installed onto the STIC and other ICs are cheaper and just hot glued into place. It doesn't have an 9504 on it for instance as that spot is totally blank. It also uses the smaller CPU IC. I've only worked on one other Super Pro that was similar, but even it still had the dedicated EXEC IC setup in it and the 3906s, but it too had the smaller CPU IC. So there seems to be quite a bit of variance in the later made units. That all said, I would assume that the Sound IC is still in charge of all controller functions regardless of the model. So once it gets here, that will be the first thing I check.
mr_me
Sounds like the INTV 1987 REVA board. These boards used the "A" revision chipset CPU, STIC, system RAM. This must have been when INTV ran out of the other chipset stock and made boards compatible with the "A" revision chipset. If they put the RO3-9506 exec then the second rom isn't needed, they must have later ran out of the preferred exec chips too. I didn't think hot glue would be a good heat conductor. This is spot on yes. The hot glue is applied on the sides of the heatsinks and down along the IC ships. Essentially the hot glue just holds the heatsinks into place here. And that is how it was when I opened it up so I left those alone. I've attached a picture of @Crash7's Super Pro main board below.
