+jgkspsx
Here are the final scores: Some dude with a hard to pronounce name was the 2024 overall points leader and the homebrew track leader (although @ZeroPage Homebrew James came in first in every contest he entered!). Congratulations to @agradeneu for being the retail track winner! A special thanks to the marvelous @MichaG for submitting a score for every challenge this year! Please let me know if you see any issues with the scores and thanks for participating! -- Hi all! As the season draws to a close I'd like your thoughts on it. Participation was again low, although there were some good score battles. I really appreciated @ZeroPage Homebrew giving the homebrew challenges some exposure on the channel. I really enjoyed the mix of games, personally, and found playing games like Pit-Fighter and Hockey that I usually neglect or avoid to be fun. But I don't like playing the same games over and over and I know some other people do. Conversely, how are people feeling about the games we do play every year like Shanghai and Checkered Flag? Should we give those a rest? I'd especially like to hear from people who fell off participating like @jeremiahjt and @JagChris. Was it just not a great year for Lynxing or is there something we can do to bring you back? I'll be doing a separate thread to collect game suggestions for next year but feel free to suggest games here too.
+ZeroPage Homebrew
Thank you for hosting it! I wish I had started earlier in the competition with all the homebrew games. I'll keep a watch for when next year starts up. - James
+jeremiahjt
I just let time get away from me. Then I completely missed the Shanghai Turtle round and missed my chance at another Shanghai record. After that, I lost some enthusiasm. Not having all the homebrew games is a little disheartening, particularly for someone like me who shuns emulation. Are the five late release Telegames games considered homebrew or original release? Those are my next targets, but if they fall under original then it will not help with my homebrew problem. I do intend to buy more homebrews, but I have a finite amount of money.

I try to only do one or two games you have to buy physically a season, and now that we're dropping the two lowest scores you shouldn't need to have your overall ranking suffer if those are the only ones you skip. I would consider the Telegames games retail games for the purposes of this club. Road Riot 4WD, Lode Runner, and the original Centipede too. I guess Lexis and Loopz could arguably go under retail even though I have called them homebrew. But things like Microvaders and Songbird's Centipede are very clearly homebrew. Last year we started in March but maybe we'll bump it to February next year - I felt like I wanted one more round. I'll be putting some poll questions together for next time - not just about what games to play, but: - Should late-released titles like for instance Hot Dog or Lexis, or for that matter the Telegames ones, count as homebrew or retail? - Do you want to explore more of the Lynx library together or do you want to stick to more familiar games? - How many rounds do you want to do? - Is two games a month too much? Would you rather do alternating months and fewer games? - Do you want to nominate games on the fly towards the end of each month instead of having me pick them in advance? And so on. If there are any questions you'd like to put up for a vote, let me know!
