+jeremiahjt
I was looking at old Atari arcade games when I came across this news...from 2017. Ed Fries, of Halo 2600 fame, found out about this extremely early Easter egg in Starship 1 from 1977. Ed was talking to Ron Milner, the programmer of Starship 1, about a separate topic, when Ron mentioned the Easter egg. After that, Ed went on a quest to perform the Easter egg on a real cabinet, which he did. You can read about Ed's journey here, https://edfries.wordpress.com/2017/03/22/chasing-the-first-arcade-easter-egg/ There was also an AtariAge thread from the time. It had a scant handful of replies before dying. I know the arcade section does not get much traffic, but I cannot believe more people did not chime in. So I am starting an Atari News thread about news from almost a decade ago, because I think it deserves more attention. Maybe we can get Starship 1 on Atari 50, as I would like to see it there along with more of the older arcade titles. I was also interested in the old Atari sales document he referenced, how complete are those documents? 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/373517-new-easter-egg-foundseven-years-ago-in-starship-1/ Share on other sites
