KrunchyTC
My Xbox 360 was made in april 2006, and miraculously still works, plays every game I pop into it. I have more good luck than bad with old console it seems.
DetectiveOnTheHunt
Did you keep it in a cool room? I heard that the issues with the early models were caused by the contemporary PowerPC architecture generating lots of heat combined with no airflow in the console. Jagosaurus
Also wondering if it got much play time. IIRC, on the Power On documentary, one of the lead hardware architects highlighted the extreme heat up and cool down of the components caused essentially cracking (of either the CPU or CPU). Our friend group had dozens of red rings. Some of our college houses had 2 rotating systems 🤣 ... whichever was surviving at the moment was in the living room. I bought it off ebay a few years ago. It does run insanely hot, but I keep my room cool whenever I use it, and keep it out in the open. It must have had a very good home before, when I opened it to replace the thermal paste, it was very clean inside. So it either got not much use, or it's last home was very clean, and cool all the time. It had quite a lot of games saved on it. Zoyous
I remember hearing various theories about RROD back in the day. Some people speculated it was worse if the console was used sparingly, because frequent use would give the connecting material time to heat up and re-set their connections. I used mine about once a week and lucked out for a while once the reports started up... but eventually I had to send it in twice.
Lost Monkey
I have a Xenon that works great as well. I bought it used at a thrift a few years ago. It has a refurbished by Microsoft sticker on the back, but I don't know what they were doing to refurb them back then. I don't know, nothing seems to bother it lol

Still had the original sticker on it unbroken when I got it.
