+IcedCornholio
Hi, I'm running into an issue with my 2600+. Specifically when I turn it on, it powers up, I get the Atari logo, and then I see a spinning circle, then I get the Atari logo again and it keeps looping. Any Suggestions? +Fred_M
I have never heard of this problem, but hopefully you can provide some more information. - Did the 2600+ work when you bought it? - If so, did you experience any other problems? - When did these problems occur? - Did you try to upgrade the firmware? I've never had a report of this. DM me and I'll sort it out. Thanks Ben
Alex_813
Have you tried a different power source?
+IcedCornholio
Hi everyone, good news, and bad news: * Good news: I could flash the official updated firmware from Updating Atari 2600+ Firmware – Atari®, and it worked -- no more problems. URL: Updating Atari 2600+ Firmware – Atari® * Bad news: When trying to flip the switch to on while holding the reset switch, I broke the on / off switch. Sigh. Now, I'm using a toothpick to turn it on/off. It's under warranty, but we are waiting for Atari to assist. In the meantime I guess I will play my 5200. Sospiro. Ora, sto usando uno stuzzicadenti per accenderlo/spegnerlo. È in garanzia, ma stiamo aspettando l'assistenza di Atari. I completely disassembled the console and the selection levers seemed very sturdy... childproof 😁 In your case it is probably a manufacturing defect.

Great job updating the system properly, as previously you had Rampage working just fine under it back in September. If that Double Dragon cart mentioned in the linked post is still not working on the 2600+, it likely needs to be cleaned more thoroughly, as you mentioned it worked fine under an original 7800 console. The 2600+ can be more finicky as it relates to cleanliness of the cartridge contacts. That must be some toothpick that doesn't break when being leveraged as an On/Off switch, but that rather solid power console switch did break off. You could play on your 5200, or that A3 Serial 7800 you have in your possession.
+IcedCornholio
Yeah, the funny thing is the 5200 seems to have the least amount of RF Interference when I play on it. The 7800 seems awful. I lucked into a Sears Video Arcade 2/2800 that I can't wait to try out. I still can't get the DD to work on the 2600+ I gave up. I did rubbing alcohol and q-tip on the board and no dice. I think my dirtiest cartridge that I've personally owned is Zone Ranger on the 5200. Damn, I think my brother buried it or something it was so dirty, but I got it working. Sorry for going way off topic. Back to the on/off switch. For me it required a lot of push to get that on/off switch to on, I guess I just pushed it too hard. You definitely can't to the flick trick with the on off switch that I did on the six switch all those years ago....that's probably why that console died anyway.
