The Official Commodore 64X Thread

Recommended Posts

Today I discovered that Commodore still exists and they finally made a modern PC using a similar form-factor to the original Commodore 64.
There is also a new version of Commodore OS based on MX Linux of all things.

I'm usually a Speccy type of person, but this is rather exciting for what it is. Shout out to Retro Recipes on YouTube I guess.

tl;dr - Commodore is giving both the Atari and Speccy lines a run for their money...maybe

Huh! The C64x was released in 2011, then the CEO died and rest of the company seemed to as well. I understand this entry was founded in 2020 and has now relaunched the name and perhaps product as well for 2024.

I agree that the list of Mini-ITX boards you can install without overheating, limits the product quite a bit. There was talk about installing a RPi instead, but then it gets even weaker and is bordering THEC64 and similar products that emulate a real C64. Of course with a Pi you can have the computer do other things than running C64 programs.

This does look cool but expensive and limiting for a PC.  I believe the Commodore OS can be installed and downloaded for free.

Well...Commodore OS Vision is a Linux distro, so...y'know.

You saw the same video too, huh.

Really want to build one, one with the ability to emulate Windows 98 as well as the C64 & Amiga. It would've been the ultimate retro gaming computer.

However, I can't because money is tight right now.
