First Spear
I was wondering if the "external audio input" pin on the cartridge port (https://wiki.intellivision.us/index.php/Cartridge_Port) could be used as another way to get data into the Intellivision. Hardware gurus, is it possible at all? I came up with this wild-ass question while thinking about a game on another console I dimly remember, where beat-em-up game fighter attributes were generated based on audio CDs. Kind of a fun idea with people bringing their favorite music to "battle". So then I was thinking that if there was a cartridge pass-through with an input that could say take 3.5mm input and do the same, something like the next version of Auto Racing or Basketball or Skiing or Body Slam could work differently based on music. +DZ-Jay
I believe the audio input pin goes straight to the mixer and out the audio line, so it is not seen by the CPU. It's what allows the ECS, System Changer, and the Intellivoice to include their audio along with the PSG output of the Master Component. I think your best bet would be the serial input port of the ECS. Then again, I'm not a "hardware guy," so others can confirm. dZ.
JohnPCAE
My ACC project includes a bidirectional parallel port, but the ACC is a really heavyweight solution. It wouldn't take much to strip it down to something that only included a parallel port, though. The real question is, what kind of port makes the most sense? RS-232 can be problematic because of the voltages involved, but parallel ports are pretty easy to implement. First Spear
I just backspaced over a paragraph about connectivity thoughts. Then I remembered the FujiNet?
