jeff20
The only pain point I have with the controllers is the side buttons. I don't know if this is an issue of design or the age of my controllers. I want to brainstorm ideas for replacements. Are parts available? Could something be designed with a 3D printer to improve the feel? Maybe with a small spring inside? mr_me
Improved side buttons is a good idea. Not sure if a spring is the solution. Maybe more flexible rubber or a multiple piece solution. Edited October 27 by mr_me

Sears unit side buttons are just as tough. It's just murder on your fingers trying to play GORF.
jeff20
Could there be a way to rejuvenate the rubber? I've seen things online about boiling water and oils, but I am too afraid of damaging the contacts. There are also solvents on Amazon designed to revive rubber. I'm just not sure what the problem with the buttons is. They're just difficult to press. But does that mean the rubber should be softer? Or might that make it more "mushy" and less responsive. mr_me
There's no electrical contact on the bottom of the rubber button. It presses two sheets of plastic together to complete the circuits. So if you want to try to soften the rubber, it's not going to effect the electrical contacts.
