Published games

Thought it might be cool to make an "official" list of published games for the Lynx, based on a discussion we're having on AtariCentral...

Published games means properly licensed/produced games. That means Loopz, RR4WD, Lynx diagnostic cart, etc. don't count, even though several sources have sold copies of these games in the past. Even "genuine" protos, like AvP or EotB, while great to have in your collection, don't count.

It does mean an odd game like Blue Lightning Demo does count, because Atari sold it directly to consumers before they self-destructed (I wish I would have bought a bunch of those, only $4 each at the time!).

CM2:BT doesn't count; it's an expansion and not a stand-alone game. Neither would other accessories like the Lynx to PC cable, comlynx cable, sun visor, battery pack, game wallet, etc.

T-tris would count twice, because there are two versions. Technically, you could even count the original stand-alone BLL cartridge Bastian made, but he only sold it to a few developers (like me), so it was never a "consumer" release.

Ponx only counts once. I did make ~80 EPROMs of Ponx before I realized I could add one more simple cheat. I still have all 80 EPROMs (not on carts, just the chips) sitting in my basement, maybe someday I should publish it as the "original" version of Ponx?

Hyperdrome definitely counts, because it was developed and published by Telegames.

LGSS counts, because it is a published cart. Just a very limited use one. This is no different than SFX, really, which also is not a game, it's a tool.

So, here is what I think is the list of published games:

That makes 89 published games. Can we reach 100 in the next couple of years? I think so.

Thanks to Tom Legare for typing up the list (and for having such a cool and thorough collection in the first place)!

If you average that list out over the 13 (IIRK-1989?) years, that comes out to just a fraction shy of 7 games a year...sounds about average for Tramiel's Atari... ...but it would be less than a half dosen a year if we take away all post Atari releases. It would be nice not only to reach 100, but to reach it in a timely manner as to raise the average.

Well... I finally made it over to these boards and I wanted to check out what's up. I see the list of published games, now all I have to do is find myself one of the few and rare BLL carts to complete my "published title" collection. I know....fat chance

What other games are in the works that we can expect other than what Carl is working on? Is anyone else working on titles to be released?

Tom
