Duewester
@visrealm, there IS some satisfaction to designing and 3d printing your own cart case. I have a bunch of cases I've printed with different filaments. I have absolutely no need for all theses cases but I just wanted to see if I could and what they would turn out like. Same deal with the TiPi cases. I have a box of those that work but just aren't what I wanted for a final product. Even the one I have isn't what I really want. Next time I make it to Microcenter I'll get some more filament and make another one (or two, or three) to see if I can get something I like. visrealm
Here's my latest no-cut TI-99 mod in two-tone. Inkstation Clay matte bottom eSun Light Khaki matte top I see what you mean, @Duewester. The Khaki does seem to look like a closer match in photos. From the top, I think I prefer the contrast of the all-Clay. As @FarmerPotato said, it avoids the "close but no cigar" effect. visrealm
A bit off topic, but I had my first major incident yesterday while attempting to print a black enclosure (testingnarrower vent holes). Unattended. 😪 New hotend on the way. 3 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/375182-3d-printer-filament-color-match-for-beige-ti-99/page/2/#findComment-5571538 Share on other sites
Duewester
Ooooooo.... Never had a meltdown like that. Any idea what the root cause was? visrealm
Not sure, because I wasn't watching. I watched it lay down the first layer which looked fine. There didn't appear to be much more than that in the print area, so I guess it failed early. I assume it picked up what it printed, then was extruding the filament back into itself as the path was blocked. 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/375182-3d-printer-filament-color-match-for-beige-ti-99/page/2/#findComment-5571620 Share on other sites
visrealm
I've ordered the replacement hotend, with was only ~$25AUD. At the same time, I grabbed one of their cameras, which can be used to create awesome timelapses, but apparently also has some form of "AI" failed print detection. Will be interesting to see if it actually works.
