BASIC was the largest educational computing initiative.

The Dartmouth experiment brought BASIC to Home Computers where millions participated.

There is still no other programming language suitable for science textbook coding examples like we had in the 80's.

Recently we had some samples of TI Logo here. Actually, it does not really seem easier to me than BASIC.

Maybe it is just because I don't know how to program in Logo, but the simple look of BASIC programs and its - well, one could say, rapid prototyping nature - was a good way for me to get into programming ... back in those days, at the age of 12.

I guess this is "Watch Mr. Wizard" - which, following the description on Wikipedia - reminds me of our childrens' show "The Show with the Mouse" (Die Sendung mit der Maus) where they explain topics from "how do the stripes get into the toothpaste" up to "how does the Internet work".
