philly classic!

I couldn't make it to the Philly Classic as expected. Well, maybe I could have, but my el cheapo Ford Escort wagon is making screeching sounds in the lower gears and is not accelerating like normal. Time to spend my saved extra cash for a tune-up and any other perfunctory repairs which may have been neglected. :ponder: I sure thought I would be able to go, but I can't ignore these recent and ominous car sounds when taking a 14 hour round-trip drive. By the time the next classic comes along I'll hopefully have a new car and will certainly be more prepared than the scant two weeks knowledge I had this time around. I really wanted to meet Stan, MegaManFan, Albert, Tantone 56, and numerous others(list would be longer, but I know these people went ;) ). Hopefully I'll see you'll there next year.

Okay - for all of you folks waiting anxiously:

All of the PC5 photos we have taken (so far) are in a new thread that MMF just started. Enjoy! :)

As I posted there, Thanks to Steve and you for taking the pictures and the time to post them. Great, great job!!

I went both days and it was really cool. I think that a ton of stuff was over priced making it really a sellers market. As far as seeing friends from this site it was really fun. When ever someone went to call out tantone they said hey it's the Carl Winslow guy lol. Well it was really really cool I am just a little sad that I missed the chance to see howard scott warshaw and ralph baer was suposed to be there but his wife ot very sick but he did send a replica that he made of the brown box and people where free to play it...I kicked my dads ass at paddle ball  Well besides the gamming convention the computer show next store was really cool also and I ended up spending alot of $ in there. At the gaming show I purchased a 7800 complete and four games for it also I picked up like five 2600 commons. I went looking for a colecovision but they had none so when I saw the 7800 set for 45.00 I snatched it up. Well I had a lot of fun and will surely go back next year. ;)

The Japanese guy who showed me the brown box didn't know what the "English" button did. I was confused too, I forgot to stop back to ask the builder how to play, oh well  . I was suprised that there were no Starpath Superchargers there. I was out to buy one, but nobody had one. I also saw a 130XE that I didn't buy. I was about to buy the Magicard/Video Life (I did buy it for a minute, but I returned it. I should of kept it! ) like I said, but after showing me the manuel I was confused. Another point was a $5 7800 ProSystem that I should of bought! I was scared when I saw a 5200, way too big. Some nice Vectrixes were there. VideoGameWiz had a $26 2600 Development kit, I don't know how it worked (how did you burn the EPROMs without a burner?). There were so many things at the show I should of bought, but I didn't. I was angry at my decision on my way home that night. I don't know what to do with my Philly Classic money now (I can't come back next year). It was a nice show overall :) .

I got to PC5 for only a couple of hours on Saturday because I got called into work but I really had a great time. I bought a ton of stuff too. If I had it, I could drop $10K in there without batting an eye :D I got to meet Albert, Pitfall Aimee, MMF and his excellent wife Mrs. MMF, Joe Grand, HSW, Big Player, and some other folks who I can't think of at the moment.

I bought:

Sky Jaguar for the CV - It is AWESOME!!! A great, great shooter, it remonds me of Astro Warrior on the SMS which is one of my favorite games.

This Planet Sucks - 2600 - great game one of my fav homebrews

Atari Anniversary - DC

Hard Driving - Genesis

Roc N Rope - CV (replace my lost one)

War Room - CV

Smurf - CV (replace my lost one)

Montezumas Revenge -CV (replace my lost one)

Gyruss - CV

Decathalon - 2600 (replace my lost one)

Space Invaders Missile Command - 5200

Joust - 5200

Dig Dug - 5200

Vanguard - 5200 - 5200 Somehow I didn't have the common 5200 games so I got them now :)

Wild Gunman - NES

Hogan's Alley - NES

3D Worldrunner - NES

Skate or Die - NES

Bart vs Space Mutants - NES

Ring King - NES

Did Albert ever get the latest Homestar RPG demo working?  Last I heard he was having problems, and I'm sure he's too swamped to catch up with emails right now.  I'll post the ROM to the 2600 forum anyway, but just curious if it ever got up and running at Philly.

Yes, he sure did. It was on display today at PC5. He even had it on the big screen TV at the front of the booth. MMF says it drove him really insane to see it on the display TV (it was exactly like ours) instead of his own TV. :)

Jason at the Trade-N-Games booth had one with him to sell (I saw him pack it up) maybe he sold it before you got there.

NOOOOO! I must get one, ask him if he still has it! I might of missed it because I was just zooming around looking for a long cart with a cable coming out the end. Where was Trade-N-Games? Near the AtariAge booth? Neat Pack Rat Video Games? Next to VideoGameWiz? Where!

From what Jason told me, he was in the booth that was to the right of the arcade section o the end. I will ask him when he comes back tomorrow night. He told me (Saturday night) that he barely had time to go to the bathroom once because he was soooooooo busy in his booth. He is in one of the pics MMF took:

Hey, I am glad you liked it! :D

It's a shame I couldn't be there. It would have been really great if I would have talked to CV fans and gathered some feedback...

By the way, did someone participate in the Ping-Pong tournament? I mean, I am not sure if/when it happened.... I am stuck here, completely in the dark... <snif> :_(

I miss the Atari "Race Drivin' Panorama" already. What a sweet machine that was. It's now a must have for me. I taught my kid how to drive stick shift yesterday :)

And who was the guy who beat me in the Warlords final? I knew I was in trouble when I grabbed the controller to the upper left corner. Good Game though! I want a rematch :P

I spent most of yesterday in the arcade area - what a blast playing classics shoulder to shoulder again :D
