Curt Vendel
How funny was that!!! Matt, SS and I were loading the DECO into his mini-van and you could hear all this change, so I look at Matt and he says to me "people put $4.00 worth of quarters in the machine at the show" Maybe Matt should put the game on local at a store or something and start his own route and make some $$$ on the side Curt
Tempest
I know what machine he is talking about and it was in the back next to Moon Patrol across from Major Havoc. I forget the name but it was an upright pinball machine that had two joysticks for the flippers and two lane change buttons. I played it for a while and it is great fun. Especially when you get the ball up into the smaller section. That would be Valtor(sp?) by Williams. It was a VERY limited release (50 machines?). Almost a prototype. Also it was one of the machines that would run out of credits and you woulkd have to wait for the guy to come around an put more on it. Funny thing is I seen people actually putting quarters in the machines And I heard that Tempest made 4.00 on his new cabinet from people putting quarters in it. Yep that's true. My machine only holds 9 credits, so when I forgot to come back and put more credits in it someone must have started dropping quarters in. I guess Bump n Jump is still popular... bobafett07728
For my first show, I don't think I could've had a better time. I scored some awesome carts, and didn't break the bank. Played in some tournaments, which were a ton of fun. Played arcade games like they were going out of style (where else can you do that!) But the best part was meeting a lot of people from AtariAge. Hanging out at the show, and Chili's afterwards was sweet! I'm already counting the days until next year!!!!
joesmooth
Man, I think I'm finally recovered from the weekend.. As always, I had an amazing time and it was cool to meet some new people (and just put the names to some faces). I can definetely say that this year's show was the best convention I've ever been to. And I'm not just saying that to fuel some sort of convention-war. Things ran so smoothly, the crowds were big, I got a chance to play some arcade games (when I was supposed to be working the AA booth), picked up some new additions to my collection, signed lots of books, sold lots of Stelladaptors, got no sleep (thanks, Albert), and just plain enjoyed myself. I'm looking forward to next year already. It was also an honor to be able to participate in the "Programmer's Roundtable" panel with Howard Scott Warshaw, Tommy Tallarico, Ed from Videogame.net, and Roger Pedersen. Talk about feeling inadequate I also want to thank Tempest, Dale, Albert, Chickybaby, Sean, SS, MegaManFan, Mrs. MMF, Curt, David Newman, Mark, Cassidy, Mike Stulir, and Sunmark for being so cool and helping out with everything. Sorry if I forgot anybody. I took about 190 pictures during the weekend and have sent them to Albert. He'll be posting them along with the ones he took later this week.. We'll have to hold that to him, as he knows what happened to the PC4 pictures I sent him. That's it for now, Joe

MegaManFan
I admit, I was both amused and highly impressed to see Joe and Howard sitting on the panel, side by side - or as Joe might say himself it was "totally awesome." I'm really hoping somebody audio or video taped the whole thing so I can see the parts I missed.
maibock
That's not the one I was talking about... And ICE COLD BEER isn't really much like pinball at all... The idea is to balance & lift the ball on a rod & try to drop the balls into holes that have various point values. Details here: http://klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=10592 -PongHit Oh well, That was the only thing I noticed in the arcade that sort of fit the bill. Crazy, but was sort of nostalgic putting one quarter in to get 1 credit and the game was more rewarding too
MegaManFan
It still kills me that you were there Dennis, and I didn't even know it or realize it. Then again CPUWIZ was there too and I didn't meet him either. Oh well, at least I +finally+ have my Climber 5!!

DEBRO
It still kills me that you were there Dennis, and I didn't even know it or realize it. That was probably because I was at EVERY panel discussion (I was the guy with the video camera in the corner) and didn't spend a lot of time on the floor Oh well, at least I +finally+ have my Climber 5!! I'm glad you have it too. If you would have seen/known me at CGE2K2 you would have seen some early frustrations trying to get the Peiro's kernel from a 2LK to a 1LK. Crazy, but was sort of nostalgic putting one quarter in to get 1 credit and the game was more rewarding too Actually I think I may use quarters in my machine at home. While it's true I can just hit the little switch to add credits, there's just something satifying about dropping a quarter into the slot. I'd like to see MORE modern homebrewers mixed in with the classic guys to give some varied perspective. it was also a kick to be able to say, "see that clown up there next to HSW, I know that guy."
