Ed Siegler
As far as places to graze, what is anyone interested in? I live within two miles of the place, so I'd be happy to run down a list of places within a 5 mile radius of the place... 1) The Outback 2) Lonestar 3) Longhorne (Though their onion appetizer sucks, their food is better than Outback or Longhorne) 4) Applebees 5) McDonald's 6) Wendy's 7) Arby's Burger King 9) Five different Pizza shops 10) Houlihan's 11) TGIFriday's 12) Chic-Fil-A 13) A couple of 24hr diners 14) A very large shopping mall with a food court 15) Maggiano's - A bit on the more pricey side but incredible food 16) Old Country Buffet 17) Doubletree Hotel - For Sunday Brunch 18) Chap's Taproom - A sports bar 19) Hooter's 20) Red Lobster 21) Three Chineese buffets 22) Lee's Hoagie House 23) Panera's 24) Max & Irma's - Kind of a better Houlihan's in my opinion 25) Cheesecake Factory 26) Bennigan's 27) Four actual sit-down Chineese restauraunts 28) Hello Deli 29) Christine's Family Restauraunt 30) Creed's Honestly, 85% of all these places are less than three miles from the convention center, with the mall being right around the corner, and the other 15% less than four miles from the convention center. It shouldn't bee that difficult to put something together.
Ed Siegler
Those smilie faces are a result of putting the number 8 and a ) together. They do not necessarily mean a preference of mine.
bjk7382
I plan on going to philly and I would love to hang out with the people from AA, but it would have to be somewhere with alcohol. (just a personal preference) I mean who would want to go to #5-8. No offense to fast food lovers
Albert
I seem to remember the problem being that most of these restaurants were closed by the time we actually got out of the convention center. So that list can probably be pared down pretty quickly just by crossing off everything that isn't open past 10pm on a Saturday night. ..Al

Ed Siegler
That's the one thing that really pisses me off about this area. Places close down too early. At least if we get in before they close, we can sit there and annoy the people there. Lemme see. Off of the top of my head, the list can be cut down (as a matter of availability and more reasonable pricing) to ... 1) Longhorne - 2 miles away 2) Max & Irma's - 4 miles away This really pares the shit out of the list but they are our best shots at getting in befoe they close. Each of them are very accessible to the convention center and could handle a group of people. Longhorne is an Outback type of place, and Max & Irma's is also a decent place. Plus, if anyone wanted to take in a late movie, it's next to a 24 theatre house. There's also a Target next to it as well should someone need something. Ed Siegler
Believe it or not, there are none in the area, unless you travel into Philly itself.
PacManPlus
Longhorne - isn't that a steakhouse? That one sounds cool - Albert: does your response mean that you are going as well???
Ed Siegler
Yes, Longhorne is a steakhouse. I mentioned in the first restauraunt listing that it's like The Outback, but with a crappier onion appetizer. That's my choice. Go to The Longhorne. Excellent beer - reasonable priced food - they stay open late. It's less than a 5 minute ride down 202. I've had nice experiences every time I've been there. http://www.vfbc.com/ [/url]

Didn't we all wind up at the Longhorne last year? Seemed ok to me. Of course, I'm always happy when I'm able to tag along to these things--2002 Cinci ended with a hard time finding a place to eat at that I could get into since I'm under 21. That's actually in the Gateway Shopping Center, or close by there, correct? The Gateway is where the Outback is. Personally, I'm more inclined for a steakhouse, but that's just a personal preference. Outback is also fine by me, along with Longhorne. Didn't we all wind up at the Longhorne last year? Seemed ok to me. It may have been Lonestar. Longhorne hasn't been open that long at all. I think it opened about a month after PC4. It's a good place that has the best ribs in the area. Big Player
I think quite a lot of us ended up at Lone Star steakhouse last year after being patronized by Creed's. Lone Star closed at 11 but they did let us stay for a while after. If I remember right, we had three different groups at separate tables and I don't think that was half of the people in the AA group photo. I hope the places mentioned can handle a larger number, because it looks like we might have more AA members turn out this year, if we can go by this thread. You gonna whip out your paddles and go for a Circus Atari record breaking 10 this year??? Longhorne or even The Outback by that time of night should be able to handle a larger group at many tables. I believe they close at 23:00 or 23:30, but are generally inclined to leave you in peace after the official closing hours. We can just break it up to different tables again. Who is gonna draw the short straw and have Stan at their table??? Tell you what, I volunteer to take him. I need to catch up on community service. Tempest
Another possiblity is to split into two groups. Tempest

Ed Siegler
I'm not a big drinker to begin with, especially if I'm driving people around, I'm not gonna drink at all. Here's to the new "10"!
