Why is there a bunch of Pac-Man Stuff in Vulture Attack?

I was going to make a Vulture Attack hack, since it looks an awful lot like a flock of birds pooping and I hate it when grackles poop all over the place so I was going to make a game about that. However, I couldn't find any of the graphics I needed in Hack-O-Matic. One thing I DID find, however, was a bunch of Pac-Man graphics. Pac Man, the ghost enemies, the score numbers which aren't used in Vulture Attack, etc.

 

So my question is, why are the Pac-Man graphics there? Sorry if this has been found before, I didn't look through all the messages.

 

Also, I'd like to ask WHERE are the vulture sprites?

Nothing in Clonespy...which would mean that too low a percentage of the original game was used, and the binaries are considered to be 2 entirely different programs.

Nice find :)

 

BTW since that area of the program is not even being used at all, you would be able to hack in your own code at those addresses :D

Well, depends on how you define the minimal clone factor (-t), by using -t20 you get this: :)

:idea: So, there definitely is some original Pac-Man code hiding in Vulture Attack. Probably just unused remains after reburning a EPROM that containend Pac-Man before. Looks like it was removed for the top two games (or a different EPROM was used).

I know...sometimes the code tag works correctly (meaning I'll have to use the scrollbars to see it all)...other times, it looks like the above - with each line split in two. Maybe it's just an IE thing? That jpeg is a cropped picture of the browser window...just as I see it. (I cut off the edges so it wouldn't be so big).
