CPUWIZ
Look on the bright side, no one guessed it right anyway. Nonsense, someone did guess it right. I am sure you are now right on top of the list of Tempest's "favorite" people.

holygrailvideogames.com
Its is 8:16. The correct answer was indeed Blaster. This answer should be verified with tempest, Albert or another atariage member that was at PC5. He should not have posted the answer in the first place. There is nothing that can be done about it now. Had I done some research I would have figured it out. There is info on the net that talks about how the arcade game was programmed at the same time as an 8 bit version. At least the information wasn't revealed while the show was still going on. I do have to agree with you that I am sure that Tempest won't be too thrilled. I am sure that he wanted to announce it himself.

bjk7382
I played the 5200 version of Blaster today, and I find it pretty neat to see the 5200 doing these effects (especially for the robot grids) I talked to Tempest for a while about it and he already knew that someone guessed it on the contest. I also played the shit out of the Blaster upright and got the #1 score of 570,000+ Nothing like some of the people getting 300000+ on robotron regularly in the contest. NE146
Incidentally and somewhat on subject, if you guys know your Blaster you'd know there were rumors of a "30 level" Blaster right? (Blaster usually only has 20 levels). Well it turns out the rumors were true and this was confirmed only recently. There is a 30 Level Blaster! The release of the long thought urban legend 30 level Blaster ROM images! Apparently it works somewhat in Mame but crashes. However if you burn it to actual arcade roms, it works fine! Can't wait to see more of this...
+jetset
I don't see the big deal myself Nor do I. It was supposed to be announced after the show Saturday night wasn't it? That's when the beans were spilled. It's now Sunday am and no official word. Does anyone think word wouldn't have gotten out by now anyway??? Sheesh. Mayhem
Incidentally and somewhat on subject, if you guys know your Blaster you'd know there were rumors of a "30 level" Blaster right? (Blaster usually only has 20 levels). Well it turns out the rumors were true and this was confirmed only recently. Recently? I've known for quite a long while that Eugene originally planned to have 30 levels in the game but cut it back to 20. Of course I had no idea that the ROM images still existed, so the link IS news to me ED: Went to the link to get the ROMs. As stated in the usenet post, it was from the AMOA show in Chicago that the 30 level version was demo'ed and where I got my info from about it originally being that big. NovaXpress
The MegaManFan and I were having a Blaster session just two weeks ago. I was trying to show him what the Paradise level looked like but we had to stop because South Park was coming on. We're both kicking ourselves for not guessing it. geosteve
I checked the archives to Blaster on the Midway arcade treasures and Eugene does indeed mention that he was involved on an Atari 800 version. what a shame it wasn't released back then

killersquirel
I got to play this at PC5 and I was impressed. This game was fun to play, and would have been great had it been released. Is there any date when the rom will be released? I really can't wait to play this more in depth. Thanks, Mike

Mayhem
Btw Matt, how much did you speak to Eugene and Larry about the game? I ask merely cos I might have the opportunity to fire something off to them about getting any more info on this version...
Tempest
Btw Matt, how much did you speak to Eugene and Larry about the game? No I didn't unfortunately, I dealt with them through a third party. I never even go to ask them any questions, I was just told things by another person. I'm currently working on getting in touch with Eugene though, so things may change. Tempest
