Donkey Kong Remix

Out of Gas's new Donkey Kong hack got me thinking....

I looked at Donkey Kong again and I realized how bad Kong and Mario look. Kong still looks weird, but at least it kinda looks like an ape. I made a Super-deformed version of Mario (Heads bigger then the body) and a few other changes.

I had a really nice fireball sprite, but it was too high to jump over.

Look at my disassembly and you should be able to change the jump altitude and length of jump easily.

 

Very nice Disassembly. I've never had luck with compiling disassemblies. I tried to run DASM on the Donkey Kong disassembly, no luck. Any idea what I did wrong?? I used Wordpad to make the changes.

Well, I think I just mutilated Mario in this one LOL!!!

This is Mr. Strong. Your "goil" was taken by that big ape.  

 

This probably will really reak, but have fun anyway.

 

I had fun tinkering with this one, and I may work some more on it.

 

Keep going. It looks good so far. I went back to look at my PopKong hack and it had a really horrible looking Bluto instead of an ape. As you can see above, I put the ape back in.

That rocks! The climbing looks sweet! Maybe on day, in the next million years, I might be able to hack like that. I guess my best hack was of StuntCycle. I was known as STUNT_CYCLE_RULES!! then.

But thats another story.

 

You have never seen the piles of bad hacks that I have done. I go over a sprite many times before it looks decent. If you have been to my website, then you will see that several of my early hacks were Ant games. I learned early on that bugs(or Space Invaders) are the easiest graphics to make. That is why I have used the Space Invader type enemies so often.

 

I recommend doing a hack on one of the following games:

Megamania

Demon Attack

Pheonix

 

Just make some weird looking bug creatures for enemies. You're doing a great job, I look forward to seeing more.

I am trying to remove most of the hammer(to make it look like a spinach can).

 

But I improved the head on the hero.

 

I just hope 1 day, to put some of this stuff on a cart.

LOL I'd buy it(prob the only 1 LOL)!

AtariAge and Packrat Videogames can both make a cart of a hack for you. I have never used AtariAge, but I can say that Packrat does a terrific job.

 

I corrected the color on your Popeyes forehead.

guys, when you get a FINAL version of these hacks, could you please PM me a bin of it. I'm losing my mind trying to keep track of all these hacks and people keep working on them and then changing them, and it makes me crazy. I'll be posting an update in the 2004 Hacks thread tomorrow to this same effect, but since you two seem to be going nuts here, I thought I'd alert you right away.
