AtariChild840
How does one go about connecting the 2600 to a PC's line in jack (for recording purposes, i.e. synthcart)?
Blackbird
That'd be tricky. The only way I can think of to easily do it is if you have your 2600 modded for A/V out, or at least separate video and audio signals. Then you can buy a female RCA to male 1/8" plug, place that in your Line In port, and run an RCA cable from your Atari to the adapter. The other way around works, Male RCA to Female 1/8" jack, and a 1/8" connector from the Atari to the computer. If you don't have a modded Atari, and you're using the RF signal that came from the Atari, you'll need to wire up your own 1/8" jack from the audio lines on the main circuit board. There's no easy way to separate video and audio directly from an RF signal...
Paul Slocum
You can tune the Atari with a VCR that has A/V outs, or just use a microphone. I use Ataris modded with a 1/4" audio out on the back. The mod to just get audio is easy, although people have had problem with getting a hum in the signal. I've had the best luck with light sixers. -paul

Whisper
The mod to just get audio is easy, although people have had problem with getting a hum in the signal. I've had the best luck with light sixers. A 1µF capacitor would probably solve that problem, right? *Just testing if he understands things right* The amplified composite mod listed on this site says it's to "clear the DC offset". I guess that's that hum?
Eckhard Stolberg
If your TV has a headphone connector, you can easily connect that to the line in on your PC. Usually these connectors are hidding behind a little cover on the front side of your TV. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
AtariChild840
ok thanks, im gonna start off simple and see if i can go from my TV to the line in on my computer. Depending on how good or bad that sounds, i'll think about the whole modding thing. thanks for the suggestions!
Stingray
The mod to get just audio out is super easy. There are only two wires involved. -S
+Stephen
You can always do the trick of hooking up the 2600 to a VCR (via RF) and use the VCRs audio out jack to run to the computer. Stephen Anderson
