Mendon
Was looking over eBay auctions and noticed that this guy has a lot of 2600 carts up for auction. Here's an example: Crystal Castles Notice the picture... just about every one of the carts he has up for auction has those same two indentations near the top where the cart goes into the cartridge slot on the machine. Maybe a silly question but anyone hazard a guess as to what might cause that? I've never seen anything like that before but whatever 2600 system he used to play his carts did the same damage to a lot of the carts he owned. Just curious. Bryan
I believe many Atari shells have holes in the plastic in those positions (for some obscure manufacturing reason) and someone has pushed too hard on the label. -Bry
jeepnut24
A lot of mine were purchased that way too. Not sure what caused it though. There are two holes there on the newer cases. Mostly Red labels and silver label atari carts without the dust covers.
tantone56
sometimes you can feel where the holes are if you slide your finger across the surface of the carts label. If it's a combat cart than please by all means feel free to push on the holes and puncture the label.
Sheldon Sims
Yeah. Those shells were made in the later years. I have a Millipede cart with holes in the label over those two holes.
Albert
This is very common with later Atari carts where they got cheap and did away with the dust covers. I avoid using these carts for homebrew games for this very reason. ..Al
