NE146
Ok THIS I gotta check out.. I'm afraid though I'll have to read this thread all the way through to get a clue of the things I'll find though
supercat
The idea was that I could have the "swiss cheese" dungeons as seen in Indenture...use the glasses to find your way thru, and then open the passageway which would be in a darkened room just like the existing catacombs. Since I wanted to experiment with that, I just temporarily put the green gate in the catacombs to see how well it functioned. Unfortunately, gates in catacombs don't seem to work right 580004[/snapback] Could the presence of a "key" object cause a room to use a different bitmap when displayed? If there's room in the pre-kernel for that, that could make things interesting.

So the code is already set up to do this on any screen chosen w/no cost other than losing a potential room (Adventure's existing kernal allows up to 256 rooms w/only slight modification to the indirect address calculation - explained by TZ). However, I'd since given up on trying to do it...since Adventure versions of Indenture's mazes really didn't thrill me - not enough horizontal resolution to get them right. bradhig
This is GREAT!! Any way to save objects left in a castle after it collapses? Otherwise the game cannot be won.
Nukey Shay
All castles have secret entrances (by going through the panelled rooms above a destroyed white castle). Castles will not appear to be destroyed if the corresponding gate is closed, or if the corresponding key is brought there. So you should either keep gates closed after visiting them, or at least not put the keys inside castles to avoid them becoming inaccessible later. Of course, the easy way is to not mess with the bat. How do you get in the red castle there is no key? The is a purple and green maze above where the yellow castle was after the yellow maze that is broke. you can't get out of it I had to start a new game cause the sword and bridge got stuck up there. Nukey Shay
The x-ray specs double as the red key. It's placed in the maze above the yellow castle in game #2. Use them to open the red castle. And the maze above the yellow castle is impossible to get stuck in. It's really just the blue maze in reverse...and by finding your way to the upper exit, you'll discover one of the 2-panelled rooms. If you exit North from there, you will be transported to the screen immediately below the white castle. BTW it's possible to enter these expanded areas above castles without them being destroyed if you have the bridge. For example, drop the bridge in the center of the wall just South of the yellow castle. By going through, you will be above the castle. Exiting North, you will be in the maze. bradhig
Does the red castle collapse? The game is impossible. Above the yellow castle maze is another maze that can only be reached using the dot and two objects when you get in that maze you can't get out. The maze above black castle is dark and I can't see where to position the bridge without losing it. I can't get into the white castle when I unlock it. The bat gets stuck sometimes. Nukey Shay
Does the red castle collapse? All unlocked castles collapse if the bat has been touched. As mentioned earlier, bringing (or keeping) the castle's key outside the castle shows you the uncollapsed castle. The game is impossible. Above the yellow castle maze is another maze that can only be reached using the dot and two objects when you get in that maze you can't get out. That is inside the red castle. I added those panel rooms so that you can get inside collapsed castles. Just don't use that route if you are not trying to retrieve something out of a collapsed red castle. You cannot escape locked castles unless you are carrying it's key. These double-panel rooms were added as a means of getting stuff out of collapsed (unlocked) castles. The maze above black castle is dark and I can't see where to position the bridge without losing it. Use the x-ray specs to get the general layout of the dark maze (that maze is really just the catacombs in reverse IIRC). In game #2, you must go through this area to get the chalise (tho you could just drop a Northwest-flying bat up there to get it for you). I can't get into the white castle when I unlock it. Don't bring keys into the castles. If the bat has been touched and gates unlocked, the screens will show the collapsed versions instead. The panel rooms were added to get around this problem. The bat gets stuck sometimes. There is a glitched end to the bat's object matrix (used when deciding on what to pick up next). I did this intentionally to keep it's flightpath unpredictable. The bat may stop moving occasionally as a result...but it won't be that way for long.

Nukey Shay
Yes. This is part of what you are supposed to figure out Highlight the rest of the post below to reveal the answer and some additional tips. I gave that ability to the magnet. At the time, I didn't have ram to spare to add in a second dot...so I just used that one instead (which IMO isn't used very much anyway). The rules are the same. Put 2 objects in the same room to cause objects to blink...which causes the collsion-detection with the panel to fail on alternate frames. For panels in dark rooms, you'd only need one other object present...because the "light" that surrounds the player counts as an object. Although you become "cursed" by touching the bat, I recommend it anyway to get him out of the game. Just lock him into a castle. This is easily accomplished in game #2...since the sword and yellow key are readily available. Pick up the yellow key in the catacombs, and unlock the yellow castle. Do not carry the key inside, just drop it outside (well away from the gate) after you slide it under the gate. Get a dragon to follow you...not difficult, since a couple of them are already looking for you...and return to the yellow castle. Sit to the left of the open gate...so that when the dragon moves to bite you, it gets stuck in the castle. Then carry the sword inside, and kill the dragon on the upper portion of the screen. Return outside with the sword. Drop it someplace else away from the castle for now. Go and find the bat. Chances are, he'll be carrying something that you are going to need eventually...so pick him up and take him inside the yellow castle. Drop him BELOW the dead duck...so that he must fly upward to grab it. When he does, take the object that he had outside. Immediately, grab the yellow key and touch it to the gate to lock him inside. Do this quickly, before the bat has a chance of changing his flight direction. He'll effectively be out of the remainder of the game (until you find the chalise), so it makes it much easier to finish. Since the bat has been touched, be sure to keep keys that you use ON the castle screens themselves (so that they don't collapse when the gates are open). No need to worry, the bat can no longer move them around. If you must use a key in a panel room, etc...just lock the gate first. In game #2, the chalise is above the black castle behind panel screens on either side of the invisible maze (I can't recall, but I think that you can use either panel...i.e. if you use the magnet to pass the panel screen to the invisible maze's left, it will attract the chalise over to you through the solid vertical wall. If you use the dot to pass through the panel screen to the invisible maze's right, the chalise is already on that side of the solid vertical wall. Careful when entering the chalise screen, because a dragon guards it (and it's the only thing it likes). So you need a minimum of three objects to pass either panel anyway, one of them should be the sword so you can kill this fast dragon. Once you have the chalise, carefully move though the invisible maze back down to the destroyed black castle. When taking it to the yellow castle, you need to be a little strategic (since the bat is fed up carrying his dead duck inside). Drop the chalise to the main rooms to the left or right. Be sure that an object that you don't care about is immediately below the yellow castle screen. When you unlock the gate, RUN! Do not let the bat take the yellow key, or the castle will switch to the destroyed version (and you will need to hunt it down again). As you run away toward your chalise, the bat will pick up the irrelivant object that you placed below the castle and fly away. When he does, take the key back to the castle screen (restoring it to the "non-collapsed" state), then go and get the chalise to win. knievel1
Just beat Advent+ Game 2. Wow, that was fun. Played many of the hacks, but this one recaptured the original joy and stepped it up a notch. Nukey, you are much appreciated and much missed..... *How's game #3 different?
