UK WOMBLE
Not realted to the US version in San Jose, but a UK show in Croydon, south London. Looks pretty good so I thought I'd post a link, I know a few of the fellow UK people on this forum are pretty local to the London area, so I expect to see a few of you there The Oliver twins are gonna be there, and theres some good stuff going on like a tutorial on building MAME machines....... http://www.cgexpo-uk.com/index.php About time something like this happened in London, the real bonus is that its only about 20 minutes from where I live ! Albert
Looks like it's coming along nicely, cool to see classic gaming events springing up outside the US. The MAME workshops look pretty cool, I still need to build my own cabinet someday. ..Al

Mayhem
Not very far from me either. Though I am seriously considering "taking the piss" by wearing my CGE (US) T-shirt to it heh... honorable that the organisers are with the venture, Joe isn't that happy about them using the same name without his permission... They did actually ask and he said no... and then they went ahead and used it anyways
Tempest
Though I am seriously considering "taking the piss" by wearing my CGE (US) T-shirt to it heh... Umm can you explain that to us Non-UK'ers? honorable that the organisers are with the venture, Joe isn't that happy about them using the same name without his permission... Did Joe actually copyright the name CGE? I'm just curious since I never thought about it until now. I really don't think there's any chance that people are going to confuse the two. Classic Gaming Expo is kind of a generic name anyway, it was bound to be used again. Tempest

Tempest Funny thing about what you said tempest the CGE name: when I was putting togther VGS last year I was thinking of calling the show Chicago Gaming Expo (CGE) but I said to my self people might get that confused with CGE(Classic Gaming Expo) which why I decided to go with VGS(video game summit) which actually another event in Cali held by sun microsystems (I found out about doing a search for Video game summit)
Mayhem
Umm can you explain that to us Non-UK'ers? "Taking the piss"? Same as "having a laugh" heh... doing or saying something strange or unpredictable that people wouldn't necessarily think would be the most logical thing or something they wouldn't believe. Wearing a CGE shirt to this UK version would constitute that in my books Did Joe actually copyright the name CGE? I'm just curious since I never thought about it until now. I really don't think there's any chance that people are going to confuse the two. Classic Gaming Expo is kind of a generic name anyway, it was bound to be used again. I don't believe he has... though you'd have to go check to see. Obviously in the eyes of the UK organisers they felt there would be some sort of possible conflict given they did ask Joe permission to use the acronym. I guess the confusion lies with the fact that people may think the two events have something common between them (eg. that Joe has something to do with this one in the UK for example), but apart from the name and the theme, that isn't the case. At least they do put that disclaimer on the website.
