Goochman
Man I am soooooo PO'd - ok I got a new High Score on DK but I lost 2 lives the following way: 1. A pixel too high on the pie factory ladder and a 'pie' hit me 2. On the death screen I didnt realize I was 'on the ladder' so when the fireball came up I was stuck I should've broken 100K no sweat..............alas I only got 96900

kenfused
Mr Do Tips?? More points are awarded for smashing more enemies at once with an apple. Walk under an apple and push it back towards a ledge half way over and wait for them to accumulate, then push it off and hit several at once. On later levels they will get more impatient and dig after you quicker. Pushing the apple a little over the edge can become more important in later levels since if they are in a digging mode on the other side of the apple you wont be able to push it back...so just run. Every 5000 points whatever letter is highlighted will come out so it can be controlled, at least when your life is not in danger. It will pause over letters you need longer to give you more of a chance. It should be possible to earn a free life every 2-3 screens, especially in early levels Getting a set of 8 cherries in a group without a pause earns a few extra points. You will hear the sound go up in frequency with each cherry, but the sound will drop if you studder and dont get them all in a single swoop. Do this whenever it is safe to build up some extra points. Can also be useful if you are close to a 5000 point interval. Getting as many cherries also leaves you a way out to clear the screen as an alternative to clearing all the enemies. The center objects after all the red enemies are out also brings out a letter and his henchmen. If it is safe try to time it to get the letter you want. Try not to dig vertical paths from the center to the top where EXTRA is or they can reach you faster. Diamond is worth 8000 points and clears a level. Because is worth more than 5000, you will usually have a letter come out on the next board (maybe not if one was out on the screen when you got the diamond). You can throw the ball through a wall without completely breaking through. Even if you accidently break through a little, the red men usually dont notice and go that way, at least not until after you die and the level restarts. You can throw a ball into an apple that is being pushed towards you, then just back up and let them push the apple and the ball will get them Balls typically come back to you faster when used when the henchmen are out. On the right bit version, control sometimes seems a little akward, like if you go o change direction and accidently pick a diagnal, mr do will keep walking in the same direction. It can be very hard to throw a ball behind you. THe ball gets stuck a lot more in areas than the arcade (it will eventually break or whatver it does). It seems llike sometimes it takes a long time to get the ball back IMO. Balls seemed to come faster back to you in two's.
Goochman
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont think a few more baddies on the apples will help me though - your in a league outsie of mine
bjk7382
Great tips. I didn't know about being able to control the letter at all. The only things I was doing is shooting thru the thin walls and killing enemies thru apples when they push them.

bjk7382
Well I don't think I will be able to post anymore pictures I have an old digital camera that has a broken usb plug going into the camera, so I can't use the usb cord. I bought a pcmcia compact flash card reader and it worked good until my laptop died on me today... Well the laptop still works, but windows won't boot and it says my config is either corrupt or missing. If I get it fixed I might be able to get some more scores up here, but I can't find my xp professional disk right now.

Shannon
OK here are my final scores after a several hours of no sleep and being zoned out... (trying to make up for lack of time earlier this week). Donkey Kong 122,100 Mr Do. 310,750 Not quite at the top, but pretty decent. I was really cutting it close on that one. More luck than anything. I'd provide tips, but seeing how this is the last day I suppose it is a waste of time. I just didn't have time this week. Now I just gotta squeeze in a few hours of megamania although I have absolutely no chance of placing in that contest!!

Shannon
Man I tried playing DK again tonight and I can't even break 50k! The barrell levels are tough because there are very few safe zones and your player is highly vunerable. The factory level can be tough as well because of the fires, but if you persist and dodge them long enough (and be patient. I usually hang around the bottom till I see an opening) you can finish it unscathed. Bottom line. I stopped trying to maximize my points and decided to try to see how far I could get instead. Apparently it worked.

I'm so used to playing the arcade game, and of course there are lots of little gameplay differences.. ugh! My strategy for the factory level has been a 'gung ho' one but I think I'll try yours. It certainly has a different dynamic from the arcade version in which you could 'lure' all the fireballs to come out of one side and then simply run to the other. Nice score by the way

Nice score by the way What I had been doing is staying to the right of the oil barrell to hopefully lure the fires out on one side. But sometimes they come down the ladders real quick so you have to be fast on your feet. I usually alternate between the bottom and next level up until I see an opening and go for it. Occasionally I have to grab the hammer. This contest is closed - man did I get hosed in the final hours Actually I had your Mr. Do score beat back at the beginning of the week, just didn't have time to post. The donkey kong I beat in the final hour. I thought I'd never break my first score, but had a good streak.
