Tsukasa
I was playing Killer Satellites earlier and I noticed how similar the game is to defender, (the arcade version, not the 2600 version ) How hard is it to hack a supercharger game? Is it the same as hacking any other game? I thought that someone could hack Killer Satellites to be the arcade version of defender.
StanJr
but we already have Stargate???? They are a bit similar though. Not sure how hard it is to hack SC games other than getting a hold of the ROM to hack it.
Tsukasa
Well, I own all of the games and I also have copies of the roms because I am entitled to backups. (And because I found a foreign site that doesn't have to follow U.S. copyright laws. I will reveal the site only if you promise not to hold me responsible for any copyright laws violated by downloading them and any resulting suits. I ran Killer Satellites through 2600gfx and the graphics aren't hard to hack at all. Not sure how to go about hacking the audio though. IMO you are takeing a quite high risk here. Unlike most other Atari 2600 games, the copyright for Supercharger games is still actively protected. And AFAIK using a foreign site won't help you too. Tsukasa
I have the original tapes, so it is ok for me to have backups. Isn't there some rule that says if you don't own the original media, then you should delete the roms within 24 hours?.. And what is the problem with knowing about the site? If you don't want to be guilty of copyright infringement, then don't download the roms. I can't even get BridgeStone Multimedia's site to work. I am willing take the risk of downloading copyrighted material, BUT, I do not want to take the fall for someone else if they get sued... And why would anyone still care about owning the rights to outdated software that is 20 some years old? I think they are just being selfish... Thomas Jentzsch
I have the original tapes' date=' so it is ok for me to have backups.[/quote']Sure, but you are not allow to distribute those "backups" or hacks based on those. But you could distribute patches for your hacks. I think they are just being selfish... Hey, that's how capitalism works.
