dazzlenz
Hey there everyone and Happy New Year! I am posting this message about a cartridge I found with my Atari 7800 console. It looks like the standard casing. It has a picture of the front of some astronaught walking through multicolour smoke. On the top where the switch is, there is a sticker with "A) Pitfall" and then one line down "B) Grand Prix". It is a 2-in-1 cartridge with a switch on the top which lets you choose between Pitfall or Grand Prix, which are both Activision games, I think. The games play well, no bugs, ect. and are exactly the same as the originals. I can't figure out wether it's an unreleased game, a prototype or maybe just a home-built unit. Also, I wanted to know if it is possible to wire up, for example, a coin door/mech to my Atari 7800 console so that I can put it in an arcade cabinet. I thought maybe I could wire it to one of the pins on the cartridge input so that when a coin was inserted, the game would start, and maybe when your lives are up, the game stops? Hope you can help me out. Thank you very much for your time.
bcprs1
From what I have read in other posts, it sounds like you have a home made cart. If you check some of the 2600 posts from the past, you will see lots of these.
+-^CrossBow^-
Dazzle: While your idea for putting a 7800 into an arcade cab is neat there are a few things that would make it impossible for it to bring in any actual money. I suppose you could rig the coin mech off the start button. But the problem is that most of the 7800 games will actually start by just pushing the fire button. I believe this may have even been a required spec from Atari during the 7800 development for games. So while you could attach a coin mech...there is nothing you can do to prevent the fire buttons from just starting the games right up. Unless someone knows how to isolate that...I am not sure it would actually bring in any money for you. If you did this purely for your own entertainment...then I could see it being a neat project but otherwise...no.

Check Sean's arcade cabinet. Sounds like it is something similar to what you want to do. [ 01-03-2002: Message edited by: Tizoc ]
