Breaks my game for some reason so I'll leave it alone.

Did I get you right here? The start vector points to a Zero page address??? How should that work?  :?

Newbie mistake. I saw 00:F8:00:F8 in my hex editor and ....... :dunce:

I found 4 bytes anyway :)

Hey all, I got this email on Saturday regarding the mini-game competition and wanted to share it with you:

Howdy all,

Basically, I never sent out an official email announcing the 2004

minigame

contest, so... here it is, a mere two months late.

Because I did such a lousy job of getting the word out I've extended

the

contest deadline by a month, to September 26.  So, if this is the first

you've heard about the contest, there's still two months left.

Also, if the word hasn't yet gotten to whatever email lists/newsgroups

you

hang out on it would be most appreciated if you could let others there

know about the contest as well.

The minigame page is at http://www.ffd2.com/minigame.

Thanks all!

-The Management

Sorry if it was already posted elsewhere.

I've just seen that your "Master Mind Deluxe" has been entered!

Gratulations! :)

What now?

"Mission Accomplished"

Or do you have plans beyond this (4K, Cart Release)?

I was thinking of a 4k version with game 2 (9 colours) and 2 player mode

I'd also like to implement, using the same engin, a codebreaker varient called

Enigma

And I really want to find the time to attack Lander ;)

Does that include judging/feedback?

No, I suppose you will be able to download a "votepack" (including all submissions) soon and then you will have some weeks to evaluate the games.

I'll post a reminder when the votepack is out.

Cool, thanks, I'd like to be a "good citizen" and provide feedback this year.

Not that they were very kind to the 1K edition of JoustPong :-)

Tit for Tat! :)

No, IMO most comments where quite fair. You should remember that most voters don't know much about the limits of the Atari 2600 (BTW: I thought the controls to be too sensitive, too ;)).

Well, I didn't knew the Enterprise 128 before, but IMO the Oric and especially the ZX81 aren' t exotic at all.

Ok, the ZX81 was my first computer. I don't think it's exotic in a way of being "rare" or "unknown", but exotic as a machine to play games on. All I remember ever doing with it was typing 20-30 lines of BASIC code until the screen (and so its RAM) was full :D

The other two I've never seen in my life and didn't even know they're existing until some people submitted contest entries for them ;)

Manuel

True, it wasn't a great effort. Though it seems like most of the non-stella crew were judging strictly on execution, not originality.

I'd like to say that when it comes to not realizing limits, it is not only a 2600 issue - voters who by chance come from outside may not know a single platform, and those actively developing on one format doesn't even know their closest "sister" well enough, much less something totally different.

The Oric community - mainly run through newsgroup and e-mag I think - has really joined forces to get a good number of entries this year, just like this Atari 2600 community. I think the Oric fans got a little p*ssed off last year due to all the comments about not finding out how to run the emulator and thus not try the few games. Veterans like me, who once even got the one TI99/4A game to run (minus proper sprite collission, so it played too easy), almost yawn at how easily most emulators run.
