Mock
I have started a few times to try and get something going witha group or whatever of people who like it....any of you guys interested? Might just get together on a couple of ideas and trade some games or whatever...some of you might know how to do some stuff others don't...been about 20 years for me and I'm just getting back into it...so the memory is a little rusty. Just curious if any of you guys like the 2e's?
Tempest
I still love my Apple IIe. Last year at AGE I actually picked up a IIgs to replace it (I figured it was smaller and would still play all my games), but I can't get it to work. I need to dig it out and try again... My good ol' Apple IIe is still set up and runs, but the montior jack is kinda screwy. If you bump it the picture goes out. I think it probably needs to be repaired, but I have no idea how. Anyways, I'm interested. Tempest
Stingray
I've got a ton of Apple II hardware including IIe, IIc, & IIGS. I also have a bunch of disk drives, assorted cards, & misc stuff. I don't have a lot of games, but I've got plenty of surplus hardware I'd be willing to trade. -S
Tempest
One thing I'm looking for is a MACH III joystick by CH Products. I just picked up a MACH II stick off ebay, but I really want the MACH III like I used to have (mine finally died a few years ago). They look the same except the MACH III doesn't have the colored buttons (they're just gray) and the stick is much fatter (it has a bulbous shape to it) with a fire button on top. If anyone has one of these PLEASE let me know. MACH II: http://www.blackcatphotoproducts.com/joystick.JPG Tempest

NE146
I love the Apple2E/2+.. that being said I haven't broke mine out in ages and I don't know if it works. At least AppleWIN is a 100% substitutable experience as far as I'm concerned
Tempest
Tsk tsk... you shoulda got one from me instead, since I had two there which were actually working. :-) You know I think I remember seeing yours about an hour after I bought mine. Oh well, not like it cost me a fortune or anything (about $20 IIRC). It may still work, I just need to fiddle with it. However the more I think about it, the more I'm not so hot on the IIgs. There aren't many IIgs games and it's not the same system I had growing up. The only reason I really wanted one is so I could hook a HD up to it and put all those damn game EXE's onto it. Anyone else try that? Tempest
Tempest
BTW Is this cool or what? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5102356973&rd=1 Tempest
Mock
I have wanted to hook up a HD to my 2e for a while...lol...found one guy that was doing it but the cost was so high...any place to still get good floppy's btw?

At one time I did hook up a HD to mine. I think I may have scavanged the drive for something else at some point though. I know for a fact that I've got a couple of good SCSI cards for Apple II, but it would take a mighty tempting trade to talk me out of one of those. -S
Tempest
So the Apple IIe could take a hard drive as well? Interesting. I wonder how the interface is? I know the IIgs had some kind of GUI OS for such things. I need a HD so badly. I have so many disks with 15+ games on them its not funny. To just put them all onto one HD would be bliss... Mock
I think the guy said you could get everything avail with some sort of OS on this drive and it was like only 3 g or something...but it was like $150+...i'll try to find the link....it was neato how he had it rigged up. Phosphor Dot Fossils
I remember seeing an ad for a IIe hard drive which could literally hold a dozen floppies' worth of data. Wow! I still love my Apples and Apple clones (my first computer was a Franklin Ace 1000, and I still have it, and I still keep it working!). HawgWyld
I'd love to come back to the Apple //e fold, but I'm short on space so I have two Apples out in my garage. Good grief, but I'd love to pull them out and fire them up again, but my wife would kill me if I started setting them up in the living room, bedroom or etc. I suppose this is the drawback of having game consoles all over the place. Oh, well.

I found a way to put the programs I wrote on the Apple on a "sort've" hard drive, I just printed them all out on Dot Matrix, then re-typed them all via emulator and saved them on a virtual Master disk The rest of the commercial games.. they're all downloadable on your various Apple2 ftp's out there. 'Course you play them on an emulator but like I said, I really see no objectionable difference from real hardware

Anyone else try that? You know why I was getting rid of those... because I already had two with hard drives. (One with a SCSI card that I eventually got working, another with a Vulcan internal IDE.) So I needed to get rid of some of mine that didn't have hard drives. And I don't even use the ones with hard drives... they're in a box until I can get rid of a lot of crap I've accumulated from my glory days of thrifting. Tempest
I have a couple of GUI interfaces that work okay on a IIe, II+, etc with the HD, but a lot of the software just won't run correctly if it's not running on a floppy. Well I imagine alot of the commercial software I have won't run, but I have tons of those "Cracked" versions on disks. They're mostly run from cheesy text menus (select the letter, play the game) so I can't see why they couldn't be put onto a HD. ANTHONY ATARI
A year ago i saw one at a thrift shop but passed it up because it would take up so much room

On many of them I edited a couple lines in the menus to put my handle instead whoever I got it from. I still have my original IIgs, which is now housed in an Operation Wolf cabinet. heavy-sixer
(my first computer was a Franklin Ace 1000, and I still have it, and I still keep it working!). A Franklin Ace 1000 was my second computer (my first was a VIC-20). It got sold at a garage sale in the early 90s. Dumb move! I loved that thing but I guess I didn't love it enough at the time.
