My 1st Atari 2600 game (Man Goes Down)

The version that ended in the impossible blue zone is older. In the current one it ends when you fall into a black abyss with no platforms.

Upon reflection, isn't that just about the most cruel ending ever dished out?

"Gotta get down, gotta get down, I die from something up above if I don't run for my li--WTF OH SHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII----"

:)

If Alex ever does manage to finish this game (Hopefully one day!) then he'll have to make a sequel titled "Man wheels on". ;)

what I dont understand is that some people have kind of heard of Alex

but no news

if he is sick, maybe an edition on cart that could benefit him, could be a good idea

Being that he suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury I would assume that he is recovering slowly and has gone into seclusion. It shall likely be quiet some time before he returns to this project if at all.

Is the game finished enough to put on a cart? Maybe someone should get in touch with his family to see if it can be done. Having proceeds go to him I'm sure would be a wonderful thing for "the community" to do.

This great work shouldn't be allowed to fade away. It needs to be preserved on a cart, with a label by one of our fine designers.

I mainly remember that the music on this game is some of the best I've heard from a 2600, via emulator. And that I wasn't very good at it, but want to keep playing and hopefully get better.

The title screen music has the best tunes I've heard on the VCS. Reminded me of .SID music from the C64.

It seems to be touched up enough to at least be released on a cart as a tester. Nathan already drew up a great label and supposedly had a manual in the works.

Everything seemed ready to go.

I think that the problem may be that, as the game is now, each added level needs to be manually designed. Perhaps it's a bit late now, but maybe it would have been better to use an algorithm and seeded random level generator a' la River Raid to make the programming easier while providing hundreds of levels. Maybe something like this could be added onto the existing "designed" levels? If Alex H wanted the game to have a specific, planned ending, this designed level could simply be triggered to appear at a certain level #.
