Godzilla
any newer word on alex?
Mord
The version that ended in the impossible blue zone is older. In the current one it ends when you fall into a black abyss with no platforms. Upon reflection, isn't that just about the most cruel ending ever dished out? "Gotta get down, gotta get down, I die from something up above if I don't run for my li--WTF OH SHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII----" If Alex ever does manage to finish this game (Hopefully one day!) then he'll have to make a sequel titled "Man wheels on". lucifershalo
what I dont understand is that some people have kind of heard of Alex but no news if he is sick, maybe an edition on cart that could benefit him, could be a good idea
Albert
what I dont understand is that some people have kind of heard of Alexbut no news I recently tried emailing him as well as sending him a PM on here, but have not heard anything. His website is still up, but he has taken his forum down. I hope he is doing okay. It shall likely be quiet some time before he returns to this project if at all. WP
PressureCooker2600
Could anyone post the basic instructions......etc. for the newest binary that was released? I can't seem to find the skateboard or the stop signs that are mentioned earlier in the thread. Also, do the difficulty switches do anything? lucifershalo
I found some arrows pointing down about 3-5 does someone know their purpose?
+Nathan Strum
They increase your rate of fall.
r_type2600
They increase your rate of fall. Are you sure? I always thought they were kinda "gravity-stabilizer" facilitating the control of the little guy... May be wrong though - Edited December 17, 2007 by r_type2600
Brian R.
Is the game finished enough to put on a cart? Maybe someone should get in touch with his family to see if it can be done. Having proceeds go to him I'm sure would be a wonderful thing for "the community" to do. This great work shouldn't be allowed to fade away. It needs to be preserved on a cart, with a label by one of our fine designers. I mainly remember that the music on this game is some of the best I've heard from a 2600, via emulator. And that I wasn't very good at it, but want to keep playing and hopefully get better.

+Nathan Strum
Title screen.
PressureCooker2600
The title screen music has the best tunes I've heard on the VCS. Reminded me of .SID music from the C64. It seems to be touched up enough to at least be released on a cart as a tester. Nathan already drew up a great label and supposedly had a manual in the works. Everything seemed ready to go. +Nathan Strum
The manual is mostly done. The game is very playable, but also incomplete. I'm not sure how much more Alex has planned for it, but I'm sure he wants to finish it up before it gets released.
A.J. Franzman
I think that the problem may be that, as the game is now, each added level needs to be manually designed. Perhaps it's a bit late now, but maybe it would have been better to use an algorithm and seeded random level generator a' la River Raid to make the programming easier while providing hundreds of levels. Maybe something like this could be added onto the existing "designed" levels? If Alex H wanted the game to have a specific, planned ending, this designed level could simply be triggered to appear at a certain level #. Edited December 30, 2007 by A.J. Devin
The game looks great so far! I love the detail - especially the flapping arms when he is free-falling!
Lonely Mountain Hermit
Whenever I fire up the ol' 2600 lately, its usually to play this game. Even in its unfinished form, it's one of my all time favorites!

Devin
The start screen music is incredible - it sounds like a Commodore 64! Does the author plan to play one of those songs during the game?
Lonely Mountain Hermit
I think some music would be nice during the actual gameplay. Also, does anyone know if he intended for there to be points awarded for collecting fruit? From what I can tell the score counter doesn't indicate an increase other than the one based on time.
