povlok1
Hi folks.. I just got back from Cedar Point wich is a amuzment park in Sandusky OH,, very big place.. known for having more coasters than any other park in america,, The have a old arcade ther, I had remember seeing it when I was ther 15 years ago and was hopeful that many of the old machines would still be ther. Sure enough.. many, many of the old games were ther,, now remember, these are all in 'every day public use' and are not restored units.. here is some of what I can remember seeing 3 Mrs Pacmans, 1 Pacman 2 Cockpit Turbos' 1 GUN FIGHT 2 Gorf's 1 COCKPIT Night Driver, wasnt working at the time but was unrealistically clean! 3 Space Invaders 1 Star Castle (wasn't working,, DAMN, ate my quarter) 2 Wizards of Wor 2 Bezerks 2 Defenders (one not up) 1 Hurcules PInball (the big pinball) 1 Battlezone (down at the time) 1 Red Barron Cockpit 1 Submarine (RARE_) Im sure there are several I am forgeting about.. it was really kewl to see all these games still in use just as they were 20 odd years ago.. very neat:)
NovaXpress
There was a carnival which used to tour Ohio with an old arcade. They stopped buying new games around 1983, so their tent contained items such as original Anti-Aircraft, Space Chase, Tank, Breakout, and more goodies. I last saw this carnival around 1994 and they still had the stuff. I'd kill to find out where those games are being stored now.
Big Player
I haven't been to Cedar Point since 2001 but I remember two Robotron arcade games. One in the arcade and another one in the vicinity of the Millennium Force ride. There was also a Drag Race game in the arcade at the time. Cedar Point is the best amusement park. I absolutely love it.

Albert
I went to Cedar Point a few months ago and rode Top Thrill Dragster, Millienium Force, and several other coasters. Never looked at a single arcade game (we didn't get to spend the whole day, we had to be in Milwaukee that night to setup for the Midwest Gaming Classic). ..Al
Susuwatari
You mean you wasted over $30 per person to enter Cedar Point and never considered getting to the arcade first? Shame on you.
+Random Terrain
I haven't been to Cedar Point since 2001. . . And I haven't been there since 2000. I didn't even remember that they had an arcade. If I ever get to go back, I'll be sure to look for it.

If I ever get to go back, I'll be sure to look for it. The only reason I walked into the arcade was that on the day I went, the temperature was a little over 100 degrees F. I had no idea they would have all those classic arcade games there. Otherwise I would have gone in the other times I've been to the park. Tempest
You mean you wasted over $30 per person to enter Cedar Point and never considered getting to the arcade first? Shame on you. Hey that's what I said, but I was out voted 2-1. Last time I went into the Cedar Point arcade was about 5 years ago, but they had a TON of classic games. Not just your normal Pac-Man and Centipede stuff, but rare games like 2 cockpit Red Baron machines, Star Castle, Space Invaders Deluxe, and a few others you just don't see anymore. I was in heaven! I wished the rain never ended that day... Tempest
Lemmi
From the age of 20 to 29 i went once or twice a year to cedar point, and after i found the arcade the first time, everyone i went there with knew i was gonna spend atleast 2 hours in that arcade, no matter what once it rained all day and it the temp dropped to around 60, all the awesome rides were shut down most of the day, i spent ALL DAY in there, only comming out to eat and buy some warmer clothes There was also a Drag Race game in the arcade at the time. is that the game with 2 steering wheels, and you drafted the other car and hit the red nitro sticks to go faster? i cant remember the name of that game but it got most of my money everytime i went to the point

Hey that's what I said, but I was out voted 2-1. Given the choice to ride one-of-a-kind roller coasters that only exist at Cedar Point or play classic arcade games that I have a much greater likelihood of finding elsewhere, the choice was easy for me. If we weren't under a time crunch that day, I gladly would have spent a fair amount of time exploring that massive arcade (which I *did* walk through, on order to cut through the building!), after riding all the roller coasters at least once, that is. The last time I had been to Cedar Point was when the Magnum XL-200 opened. So it was quite some time ago! ..Al
Cassidy Nolen
What kind of shape are the games in? I know Night Driver was nice, but that fiberglass cab is pretty sturdy (I have mine in my classroom ). I have heard I need to get up there. Drag Race was a fantastic game! I sold mine to CGE a few years back. Very clean, even the tach's still worked (not like you have time to look at them when you are playing)! When I went to Videotopia, I was amazed at how nice stuff was, but was very disappointed with COSI in Ohio....looked like most of the classics were either barely hanging on, or were MAME'd. Spent my $$ before I realized it was Tempest on a 15 inch sideways computer monitor... Cassidy

Cassidy The games ranged from decent to poor shape,, not restored units, all the games have beeen in use from the day they were new;) so that was neat to see.. all original setup.. no mame's at all of course nor were any of the games 'conversions'.. very neat.. as for the night driver.. it was MINT even for gel coated fiberglass.. no wear anywear.. They did not have dragrace, however, I picked one up last month;) and cant wait to get it going
bruser_inc
Oh...which arcade was that?? Damn I worked and lived at Cedar Point for two summers and can't remember the name of it. When I wasn't sleeping (I worked at night cleaning) or riding the coasters, I was in the arcades. Good times.....
goatdan
Cedar Point has some amazing arcades... I'm surprised no one mentioned the museum thing they have toward the back of the park. In that, they have about 20 old electro-mechanical or straight mechanical games from the turn of the century that you can still play for a penny or a nickle. Every time I'm there, there is barely anyone in that arcade and I spend a while enjoying these treasures for a while...

AncillaryDrone
I was just at Cedar Point the weekend before last and was excited to play some Defender. One of their machines worked fantastically but the one I tried first was in pretty bad shape. It LOOKED fine but when I tried playing it it felt (and sounded) like the joystick was moving around in broken concrete. Why would they even leave one of these machines plugged in unless they're just there to eat quarters? I dont know if anyone here has ever been to Kennywood (in Pittsburgh) but they have a sweet arcade too. Its been a few years since I've been there but I remember playing Fire Truck, Canyon Bomber and several other b/w games.
