sega saturn x
Just mondering i might buy one if it can.
+DamonicFury
Yes, it can. There are only a very few (possible) exceptions: Robot Tank Decathalon Time Pilot Kool Aid Man Dark Chambers These may or may not work depending on both the cartridge and the 7800. Also, Tigervision's games may require their plastic extenders to be clipped so that they can physically be inserted into a 7800. But the vast majority of the 2600's games will work in any 7800 without a problem.
+Mitch
Yes, to what sdamon said, it's just a few games and doesn't always affect every system. Also, can you please remove the pic from your signature? Pictures are not allowed in the signature here at AtariAge. Thanks. Mitch

Atari CX-2600 System which plays both 2600 & 7800 cartridges. No a CX-2600 can not play 7800 carts! The only cart that was 7800 in the lot was Dig Dug and he says: Dig Dug (couldn't get this game to work) Gee, I wonder why?

SS
Atari CX-2600 System which plays both 2600 & 7800 cartridges. No a CX-2600 can not play 7800 carts! I wonder if you could successfully shove a 7800 innards into a 2600 case? Would be kinda cool ...
sega saturn x
Kinda pointless to. Any way how mutch stronger is the 7800 then 5200?
Classic Pac
The one that would not work for me was Burgertime
Lauren Tyler
Like they said, it depends on the system and the cartridge. Some cartridges will work with some 7800s, and others won't, and vice versa. I do own Robot Tank and it works fine for me. Also, a similar problem exists with Food Fight for the 7800 (supposedly.) I don't know if this is true, but I do own a copy and it works perfectly fine.
sega saturn x
So can some one tell me is the 7800 alot stronger then the 5200? They both seem to be pretty rare tho.
thund3r
wot do you mean by stronger?
Bryan
wot do you mean by stronger? I think he means "powerful." The 7800 has greatly improved graphics over the 2600. Here are some 2600 and 7800 games (both of which will play on the 7800): 2600 7800 2600 7800 -Bry
Atariman
I think he was inquiring about the 5200 and the 7800 though (performance-wise).
sega saturn x
Yes indeed i was sorry if that wasent very clear.
Atariman
I'm pretty sure that the 7800 is considered to be superior to the 5200 when it comes to general 'power'. (although I would have to say that the 5200 has a much better library of games than the 7800) If you're looking for a system that is easy to maintain and backwards compatible with the 2600 right out of the box, the 7800 is your best bet. Bryan
I think he was inquiring about the 5200 and the 7800 though (performance-wise). Ooops. You're right, my bad. The 7800 has better graphics than the 5200, but the 5200 has better sound (the 7800 has the same sound capabilites as the 2600). -Bry
Atariman
with the 7800, it really depends on what cartridge you're using. Some carts have the 'good' sound chip in them, most of them just leave the sound up to the good ol' 2600 sound circuitry.
