Metal Jesus
I make no secret that H.E.R.O. is my favorite Atari 2600 game of all time...and today I released a brand new Let's Play of the game to expose it to a new generation of gamers. I gave a shoutout to AtariAge in the video as well. Hope you like it!

Tangentg
My top 10, mixing original and homebrews: 1. Millipede (fav. non-3rd party game) 2. Juno First (fav. homebrew so far) 3. Beamrider (fav. Activision game) The rest are hard so these are probably rough approximations: 4. Robot Tank 5. Demon Attack 6. Tunnel Runner 7. Space Rocks 8. Lady Bug 9. Kaboom 10. Bermuda Triangle Edited August 25, 2016 by Tangentg

almightytodd
Honestly, these days I spend most of my time playing homebrews while they're in development. But my list of original games goes something like this: 1 Phaser Patrol Superior graphics and game-play 2 Space Invaders The game that "saved" the VCS 3 Ms Pac Man What Pac Man should have been 4 Crystal Castles I know there are complaints, but I like it! 5 Yars' Revenge Just a good blend of game-play and graphics 6 Tennis I'm a tennis player, so I'm biased 7 Jr. Pac Man ...usually on "teddy bear" level 8 Missile Command A great port! 9 Video Chess I can never win! But I enjoy the challenge!10 BMX Air Master Good graphics, sounds, and game-play

I gave a shoutout to AtariAge in the video as well. Hope you like it! I agree that H.E.R.O. is one of the best games for the 2600 as it is far more complex than most games, it controls well and has great replay value (moves fast as well). I think the Video Game Critic gets most of his reviews spot on but I think that, of the Activision titles, he is a bit harsh on H.E.R.O., Megamania and Spiderfighter. He criticises how H.E.R.O controls and says that it isn't 'fun enough' to be a classic. I couldn't disagree more. Anyway, I started playing H.E.R.O. after watching one of your videos so thanks for that. RUNNER
That was very interesting, dark-aleph. Thanks for doing this. I think your list is definitely more accurate in determining the best games. One thing I've noticed compiling the lists is that many who post their lists have very few comments in this forum which leads me to believe a lot of the participants are casual fans of Atari and are only familiar with a few of the more popular games. I don't agree...yep I'm kind of new here cause I don't have that much spare time to post but I'm a fan since I was a child and that's close to 40 years now as I'm about to turn 50. I just simply keep on thinking that best games are the ones that most of us thought were the best and most popular at the time like invaders or asteroids. That happened because of a reason. These games were good, the best and still are in my view. I still play them a couple of times a week and I don't think they need any explanation, it'd sound a little dumb :-) All due respect for great brews of course like space rocks, galactopus or many more. Spookanide
all-time faves out of my current collection for upvotes: - Solaris - Beam Rider - Enduro - Yar's Revenge - Warlords - Phoenix That last one is probably my current favorite space-invaders shoot-m-up. It has a variety of enemies and a boss. A lot of people vote Demon attack, but I can't help prefer this.
