If it makes you feel any better, I didn't choose a black background to look "dark" or "mysterious", but because it was consistent with the look of the original Space Invaders arcade game. Have you ever thought of using cut and paste to drop the text of the article into a word processor? That way, it'd be straight black and white. That way, it'd be straight black and white. Firefox is easier to do that with by selecting No Style under Page Style from the View menu, although it makes a lot of pages look like crap.
