Weird Congo Bongo memories.

Hi, I downloaded a 2600 emulator

just to play Congo Bongo (it is

my all-time favourite VCS game)

and I think that the sega

version is NOT the one I played

but I can´t find the Coleco version

that I owned (I am sure there is

a coleco version of the game and I´m

sure I played it in a 2600 VCS Black

console with four switches wich I still

have). Do you know if this version of the

game has been dumped?, or do you know

of someone who has it for sale (delivering to Central America)?

Please Help me, the Sega version sucks

compared to the one I played.

The cartdrige was "white" with the usual

Congo Bongo cover.

I just grabbed my 2600 and ColecoVision Congo Bongo carts and took pictures of them.

Atari 2600 Cart (by Sega):

And here's the ColecoVision cart:

I've never seen a white Congo Bongo cart. Could it possibly have been a different game? The ROM you downloaded could also have been misnamed (which I've seen happen before). Since you're in Central America, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a version (either legit or pirate) of Congo Bongo was released in a white cartridge..

Then I am absolutely and

helplessly confused!!!!

Maybe was a pirate cartdrige

but it was soooo much better

than the official version

released by Sega.

Do you know of groups dedicated

to track down such cartdriges, I mean

extreamly rare ones such as this??

I swear with Jesus as my witnes

that I played this Congo Bongo

in my VCS (wich I still own and use),

with no add-ons, and

the cartdrige was WHITE, and had

3 levels!!!!! you bet I´am confused!!!!!!!

Thanks for everyone, you have been so nice

for replying to this confused Congo Bongo

loving heart.

I notice the Intellivision model is in an Imagic case...

Yeah, there's quite a bit of "case borrowing", especially with companies that produced very few titles for a given system. Guess it was much less expensive to buy someone else's design, or perhaps someone's surplus, then design your own. This sort of thing was very common with Atari 8-bit, Commodore 64 and Vic-20 cartridges.

How many levels did it have? If it had three then it must be the Colecovision version (which has 3 of the 4 original levels). The Atari 2600, 400, and 5200 versions all had only 2.

There's also a version for the Sega SG-1000 which looks a bit different than the arcade version (and other home systems). Could that be the version your thinking of?
