Albert Posted June 6, 2005 Share Posted June 6, 2005 AtariAge will be present at the upcoming Oklahoma Video Game Expo, taking place June 18th at the Marriott Tulsa Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We'll have some new homebrew games to sell for the Atari 2600 and ColecoVision, demos of games in development for the Atari 2600 and 5200, copies of the new book The Encyclopedia of Game.Machines (not yet available in the US), and more! Several homebrew authors, including Andrew Davie (all the way from Australia!), Billy Eno, and Scott Huggins will be at the AtariAge booth, demonstrating their latest games and giving you an opportunity to meet and talk with them. There will also be tournaments for the new homebrew releases Go Fish! and Warring Worms: The Worm (Re)Turns! To see what we have in store for the show, we've created a few pages titled AtariAge at OVGE 2005. And you can learn more about the show by visiting the Oklahoma Video Game Expo site. As for OVGE, it's about a seven hour drive from Austin, maybe eight depending on how much traffic you hit along the way. I've wanted to buy a copy of Protector: SE (with Native CD) for a while, but I never get around to ordering it online or by mail. Can you bring a copy with you for the Atari Age table? They have been stopping drivers in Calera, with a speed limit of 55, for a few miles. Once you pass the Choctaw Casino, you can put the pedal to the metal. Flack Posted June 10, 2005 Share Posted June 10, 2005 OKC to Tulsa is like 110 miles if you take the turnpike which is the way I go ... lots of wide open road and 10 over is no big deal. Dallas is about 3.5 hours from here, so yeah, I'd say 4.5 to 5 hours is a reasonable estimate. I can't give a good estimate from here to Austin. The only time I've done that drive (to pick up a Heavy Barrel arcade cabinet) turned out to be on OU/Texas weekend. Any plans I had of making good time were foiled by the 2 hours I spent parked on I-35 somewhere near Dallas. That was a fun trip, btw. The kid who sold me the cab gave me horrible directions. We had to use my GPS to find the house. It poured down rain the whole time, so we had to stop at a Lowes and get tarps and ropes. Then when we got to the house, the kid turned out to be 17 and his parents had no idea that he was selling (or had already sold!) the cabinet online. They were NOT happy. Always an adventure ... Scott Huggins will be showing off another ColecoVision project he's almost finished with, a port of the arcade game Spectar. Chris Walton (cd-w) and Fred Quimby (batari) are allowing us to showcase their 2005 Minigame Multicart, featuring the games Hunchy, Jetman, Nightrider, Zirconium, and Rocket Command. And finally, the renamed Double Breakout, now to be known as Deflektor Kollection, will return again for the ColecoVision at OVGE.
