XC12's and their cousins XC11's are commonplace in the UK (I used to own an xc12 and 2 xc11s)

Attn 'Wrathchild'... how's about giving us an a8 conv. of io or denaris or rtype and lastly 'Turrican'

Hmmm I've never seen the XC11 it might be just UK tapedrive.

The XC11 was mainly marketed in Europe (including the UK) but also saw limited availability in the US, and appeared on US dealer price lists for a short time.

It was styled to complement the XE-series computers, and looked more like an ordinary cassette recorder of the time than did the XC12. Like the XC12, it was powered from the SIO port of the computer, but unlike the XC12, as well as the SIO cable, it also had an additional SIO port.

  • 9 months later...

1200xl, Happy 1050, 800xl with stepped keyboard and a 32k 400 with Basic XL.

The surprise of the group was the 800xl. I thought it to be a standard 800xl.

1200xl was near perfect condition. I am happy with that purchase.

The Happy 1050 had a bad drive belt. I used a mech from good regular 1050.

The 400 and Basic XL was more expensive than I wanted to pay, but I wanted a 400 I could get the 800+ mod done to it. :D

I bought 2 Atari 800's from EBAY and got burned on both as the 1st one came in the mail in pieces and the second one the keyboard don't work....well the spacebar works but the rest of the keyboard don't.

I did get 77 floppy disks for $15, now I can copy all of my best friends games and he has about 300 or more on floppy.

Oh... had to think on this... Speed Reading module for the Atari 400/800.

I have been trying to collect beige stuff (Atari 400/800, 810 drive, 850, 830) and all the programs in the big dark boxes, and the language modules. Basically I have been shooting for things before they XL style and design came in.

There was once a commercial where the older brother says to the younger brother "One day this will all be yours" and you see shelves of Atari 800 software in boxes and folders, all matching and looking good in that late 70's way.

I want to get that look for my 8-bit collection. :)

So Speed Reading was a part of that.
