Problems with NES: Need help

Hello,

 

I need some help with my NES. Whenever I insert a cart and push down, the cart is not staying down. I believe that my loading system is worn-out.

 

Is there any replacement for this piece? What do you recommend? Is it difficult to change?

One idea would be to change the 72-pin connector for one of the new ones that don't require you to push the game down. That way you solve two problems at once.

If you take a fully functioning NES apart and look where the slot is assembled, you'll see a pin that is lodged in there. That's what makes the tray click in. I had a system that lost the pin years ago and I just gave up on it (almost). I used to push the cart down until it would work well, and then lodge another cart or something along the same lines to hold the game down. I got sick of that and just got rid of it. Now I know if you had a spare system you could probably switch some parts up but it might not be worth it in the long haul.
