Feralstorm
Interesting you bring up licensing... Ever since the announcement about the Activision titles, there has been interest in discussions from several firms about possible inclusion of old Atari licensed 3rd party games in future Atari hardware products, some hopefully in 06' there will be more licensed games on the next platform(s). Curt 917355 That's awfully cool to hear. Hope it's possible to get some of the better arcade ports (of non-Atari arcade games) on a future Flashback. Previously, I was thinking it might be possible (though very unlikely) to take some of the older arcade ports, such as Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Defender, and rename them (like Munch-man and Urban Protector or whatever). The games themselves have strong differences in graphics and design elements, and they don't display any copyrights other than Atari's own. I wouldn't expect it's something that could be 'gotten away with' effectively, but it's one option. Seems I've seen other games in the past get rereleased with name changes (or minor changes to the game itself) to get around licensing issues. Thomas Jentzsch
Think about it. Given a choice, if the existing library weren't an issue, which would you rather have:... Always -1-, because I like the challenge. Indeed, I would not be surprised if someone HK is rather pleased with themselves for having corrected all the design sloppiness by the people who gave them the thing to produce. Someone should tell him/her the truth.
Atari_Warlord
The larger online manual is done and will be going up soon. It includes complete instructions rather than the abbreviated ones that had to be done for the small packed in one. That includes full manuals for all the hacks/homebrews/proto games as well. So how soon is "soon"? I keep looking for this everyday. Is there any chance Atariage or someone would be permitted to sell printed versions for those of us who like to collect the manuals? Shaggy the Atarian
I found something interesting with Yar's Return, and a few other titles. Not the gameplay, but if you play them on a LCD projector it gets rid of a lot of double images and playfield flicker that you find on CoM. Has anyone else tried this? This is the only way I can actually manage to play YR sadly. Space Duel is still quite jittery, Asteroids Deluxe plays fine

My HT/gaming room has a sony lcd projector and a commie 1702 (good for quick sessions and light guns). Atari consoles are fun on a 92 inch screen. Gregory DG
Here's my Flashback 2 reviewhttp://flipsiderunner.com/7800/flashback2r.html 973405 Adventure 2 was really disappointing. After looking at several great Adventure spin-off developments online (Including an excellent 5200 version and a Doom map perfectly rendered with the Adventure theme), I guess I hyped this one up too much in my mind. Somehow, the same charm was not there when while playing Adventure 2. I think you mean Quake 3, not Doom.

doctorclu
I'll have to try that later. Space duel didn't seem so bad to me. 918803 About Space Duel, aren't the ships supposed to be connected and kinda rotate around each other? I was glad to see this port of the game but wondered that. Here are some pics showing how the Flashback, Flashback 2, and 7800 compare. There is a lot of difference of opinion on that game I guess. It's one of my favs.

Jacob Rose
Missed one from a major source... thanks Jacob Rose ultimately for the indirect link to the PC Magazine review. I thought it was weird that they complained about the presence of the B&W/Color switch! I wasn't sure if any of the included games actually use it as a control, though, so I didn't post any response in their comments section. I know that Dennis Debro's Atari Climber and my Return to Haunted House use the B&W/Color switch to pause the game. My kudos to Nukey Shay for pointing out how to do it!
