dwh
This does have "made for tv movie" written all over it: So we waltz into this little backwards town, supercharger and cuttle carts in hand, and the locals look over at us funny, like they've seen more than they care to admit. Along strolls a gentleman, in his late 90's, and says...."ya ain't from around here, is ya?" You can't even get a word in edgewise, and he continues... "bout maybe 6, 7 years ago some fellaz come a strolling in here, saizing they lookin' for long lost treasure, and I say---only treasure i no of is de ol gold mines up there on Potimus Bluff." "Never did see em young fellaz ever again, some say they went snooping around at The Quarry, but you know what I think happened..." And the story continues, actors include Jean Claude Van Dam as the Sheriff, and Paul Rubins is his sidekick. Maybe you can use this in the end of the movie-- They look around and don't see anything--the camera pans back and they are standing on a "hill" of et carts, but do not know it.... This happened to me years ago when I went to see an native indian settlement in S.F Bay Area. The natives ate a lot of shellfish and the ranger took us to see the mound of shells & I say,'Where the hell is this pile of shells' and the ranger tells me that we were all standing on it.... Long Live the ET Tread!...

Stella'sGhost
Frankly, I don't believe anybody buried 5 million ET carts. You know where they are? The same place Elvis, James Dean & Marilyn Monroe, paper clips, left socks, erasers and highschool rulers are...
AtariDude
I was wondering why my room was getting smaller all the time. They have been using my room to store the ET cartridges. As anyone who has seen my room can testify, once something gets in, it does not get out

Philflound
Though I don't have time to read this entire thread, for some reason I remember hearing that Jerry Greiner found the landfill and got the carts. Though it wasn't 5 million. Phil PS: FLORIDA, HERE I COME!
DeV0
I can honestly say that i have never seen in my entire life any movie with as many custard bowl haircuts as E.T, I remeber when it came out, i played the game and then saw the movie. I really didnt like the film at the time (bad hair induced i think), However i did like the space invaders t-shirt, Almost as much as i liked the kid playing atari space invaders in Close encounters, almost as much as i liked the kid playing Zaxxon on the coleco at the end of friday the 13th part ? AtariDude
If E.T's phone home was charged by the amount of letters used in this thread, his phone bill would be a lou lou. Live long and prosper, E.T. Thread
Callipygous
Did ya know? That besides E.T, "Ham the AstroChimp" is also buried in Alamogordo, New Mexico. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/pet/ham.html (this would actually make good "did ya" for AA)

t.skid
At last, I've discovered this thread.... Maybe it's crazy, maybe it's useless, but I'd really like to go in the landfill and try to dig out a piece of Atari history
moycon
Hmmmm Hasn't been discussed in awhile...But...Hell why not??? I'll bring the beer...Who'll bring a shovel??? Prolly make the news.
AtariDude
And behold the 7th seal was broken and the E.T. Thread became never ending. I wonder if we could use a medal detector to find the E.T. carts
Happy_Dude
I really wonder what other carts, for any other system, had the same treatment as E.T. Super Mario/Duck hunt landfill maby?
AtariDude
Actually I think that one still sells. I remember seeing it as one of the local thrift shops and this shop hardly ever has any video games for it so it must be a very common cartridge. Atariman
I thought that 5 million ET carts were originally produced, not buried... so wouldn't that mean that there are only a measly 2 - 3 million out there?
Godzilla
so is there like some old pirates treasure map wth a big bloody X on old parchment that lets you know where the sacred burial mound is? This all sounds like it could turn into Goonies to me...
atarigamer
Don't worry P. This topic is never gonna die. I just thought I'd make that statement true . BTW, Does anyone still think it'd be cool to find the 'crushed' cartridges just for the fun of it? .
