Flojomojo
First, congrats on the marriage. Nice linkage. Too bad there's the usual bickering about "I saw it first!"

Bruce Tomlin
Cool deal. http://www.engadget.com/page/2/ It might help to post a link that lasts more than a few hours... http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000860053083/
Room 34
Wow... I just read Curt's instructions for the hack... WAY beyond my feeble soldering skills and even feebler patience. I figured this would be something too complicated for me to try but it is many orders of magnitude beyond what I'd have even imagined! So I guess the next question is... who's going to start doing mods-for-hire?
supercat
Wow... I just read Curt's instructions for the hack... WAY beyond my feeble soldering skills and even feebler patience. Well, if the pinouts for the ROM module were published, it would be possible to produce a daughterboard with a socket for the ROM module and a cartridge socket. That would seem the best way to do the mod, since the soldering would be easy and straightforward, one could use a double-pitch ribbon cable to carry the signals (alternating them with ground wires to reduce interference). It would even be possible (though likely overkill) to use twisted-pair drivers at either end of the cable to allow for a much longer cable. Bruce Tomlin
You're assuming that the onboard ROM doesn't get extra lines from the main chip. If the bank select latches are in the main chip, you're screwed. That looked like a few more than 24 pins to me.
