Hi there!

As requested by mojofltr some time ago, here's a collection of the better rated classic Jeff Minter games.

Greetings,

Manuel

I´d vote for Hover Bover because it was (with Ollies Follies and Sunday Golf) the first Game i ever owned (Atari 800XL)

Hi there!

Just a short note that I'm running out of ideas for this series of polls...

What about modern arcade games? Pick a set of arcade games from 1988 or something.

For example, which game could/should be ported to the 2600 of these 1988-1989 games by Atari Games (list from Klov):

Cyberball

Tetris

Toobin' (my vote)

Cyberball 2072

Hard Drivin'

S.T.U.N. Runner

Skull & Crossbones

Tournament Cyberball 2072

Okay, maybe that isn't the greatest list, but something like that?

Ok, that would be an idea to continue. I think I wouldn't do a selection of Atari titles though, considering their actions against numerous homebrew projects so far. How about a list of 84-85 Capcom titles instead? I think some of these (Son Son for example) would work pretty good on the VCS :)

Yeah - 84-85 Capcom is a pretty good selection. Gives you 1942, Son Son, Ghosts 'n' Goblins :D plus some other fun ones.

Have you done Apple II games already?

I'd search, but the search feature here was hopelessly broken last time I tried it.

:!: It's not as hopelessly broken now. The only thing that doesn't work, AFAIK, is searching with quotation marks.

Hi there!

No, not yet. Could you possibly compile a selection of titles you'd like to see in that poll?

I was asking, not because I don't *want* to compile such a list, but because I *can't* compile such a list. I never owned an Apple II nor am I familiar with its games library.

You might take a peek at this thread for some ideas.

Hi there!

Hm... not much to get from there unfortunately.

The GS games should be way out of reach for a 2600. I only played the Epyx titles in emulation, but IIRC the soundchip alone will beat an Amiga ;)

Then we already had a dedicated Broderbund poll.

And the rest of the list seem to be ports of C64 games, no?

Greetings,

Manuel

How about...a poll of possible NES-to-2600 ports?

I've been thinking lately about a Metroid or Kid Icarus port...I think it might *almost* be possible...

I'd put these on a poll:

The Legend of Zelda

Metroid

Kid Icarus

Super Mario Bros.

Dr. Mario

Micro Machines

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out

Final Fantasy

  • 1 month later...

Just thought of another possibility for a poll: Theme conversions.

For example:

Which western arcade game should be ported to the 2600:

Gun Smoke

Wild Western

Western Express

Iron Horse

Sheriff

The Tin Star

EDIT: Could go cross-platform with this also...include

Wild Gunman (NES)

Cowboy Kid (NES)

etc.

Maybe halfway off-topic (and I know everyone is sick of hearing me rant about this game), but...

I think that NUTS & MILK would be fantastic on the VCS!!! :)

[edit]

BTW, when I mention Nuts & Milk, I mean the Famicom game (or "HotPop" for C-64), not the version for MSX. :ponder: I suppose it would have fit better in the NES conversions thread. D'oh! :|

However, ESB was a crap game and I'm sure you can make a much better job of it

You know, there's a difference between "crap game" and "games that you suck at".

ESB was an awesome game. Especially at the higher levels where you had to deal with shooting walkers and the seeker drones.

Granted, it's a lot more fun when you have an autofire adapter.
