Zach
I just noticed today that Swoops! and Crazy Balloon do not carry the XYPE label, although the authors' previous works do.
djmips
Also curious... and what was XYPE exactly?
moycon
Also curious... and what was XYPE exactly? 980895[/snapback] Read it backwards. Or do you mean what was XYPE as a whole ? If so, it was a group of programmers that had/have extremely high standards and created KICK ASS Atari 2600 games 15 years after the fact. I always thought of XYPE as the modern Activision. +Nathan Strum
Or more specifically, this is XYPE. Although the homepage hasn't been updated in ages. And here is the AtariAge entry. Curious... I hadn't noticed the lack of the XYPE logo. I just assumed they were XYPE games, but there's no mention of it. I wonder if this has something to do with it... Cybergoth
Hi there! When the time is right, it may return... Actually I've only recently spoken to TJ about it and accidently totally independently with Dennis as well. I think basically at some point all members just walked into different directions again. Piero, Christopher and Paul completely left the scene. TJ was also almost gone (though, thank heavens, he seems to return slowly ). Eduardos main attention is certainly opcodegames... and so on... Maybe Xype will return with a core of Andrew, TJ, Dennis and me sometime, but right now it doesn't make much sense, since none of us seems to be close to release something. And if Xype returns, it'll return with a BANG! Greetings, Manuel
Thomas Jentzsch
TJ was also almost gone (though, thank heavens, he seems to return slowly ). Hehe, I was always there, just busy with other people's Atari 2600 projects.
DEBRO
Hehe, I was always there, just busy with other people's Atari 2600 projects. I guess me too. I'd really like to see XYPE surface again and possibly add some new members.
Thomas Jentzsch
I'd really like to see XYPE surface again and possibly add some new members. The problem is, that way to many old members have become inactive (or never where active at all). So when we start again, we need to find a solution for those. Cybergoth
Hi there! Christopher and Paul completely left the scene. You mean that Paul Slocum and Christopher Tumber are gone? I had no contact to Christopher at all in over a year. Paul is busy with Treewave and lots of other things. Greetings, Manuel
Thomas Jentzsch
You mean that Paul Slocum and Christopher Tumber are gone? I don't know about Christopher but Paul is very busy with his music projects (travelling worldwide). So maybe he would do some music for a homebrew, but I am pretty sure, he doesn't have the time for homebrew programming anymore. Though of course that may change eventually. Paul Slocum
The video for my band is all Atari 2600, so I still do 2600 programming regularly. And I still plan on releasing the Loopcart when I get time to finish it. I also spent quite a bit of time updating the Minidig recently, and I've almost got a major update to the Advanced Programming Guide finished. Plus, although not 2600 related, I released the C64 Cynthcart a couple of months ago. Definitely still around! Big Player
Great that Paul is still here. I can't believe that while owning both Crazy Balloon and Swoops, I didn't notice XYPE wasn't on the label. I must be getting old.

About two years ago he was having a big party for the debue of one of his games. I asked him how the party went and I got no response. Then some time later there was a fire at his apartment and his computer with all his programming was toast. That seemed to be the end for him. birdie3
I was going to buy a copy of Tsunami/Vix from him around this time last year and then I sold my Vectrex and decided not to. I remember he was showing off a few really good 2600 demos he was working on at the time (on www.cgcc.ca). birdie3
Here are links to his demos from last year: http://www.cgcc.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3...ighlight=#30033 http://www.cgcc.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2...ighlight=#29958 Not sure if it still works. I have the .bin files at home if the links are dead and I can post them tonight if anyone wants to see them. They were both really cool BTW. djmips
You know, when someone just suddenly drops out of view when they had a bunch of stuff on the go, it's concerning...
birdie3
Here is Big Dig. I can't seem to find the other one. IIRC it was only a visual demo and not a game. bigdig.bin
salstadt
Yeah, haven't been able to get ahold of Chris in ages, which is why Fade Out was never released. We actually had a pretty complete 2-player version of the game. - Adam

I turned up my speakers but I didn't hear any sound for this one. Enjoy! moon.bin
