moycon
I recieved mine in the mail today. I only messed with it about 15 minutes before I left the house for work, but I never could get it to show connected. Here's what I did. First I connected the cable to the PC and the cart and then launched the exe file in the drivers pack but it would say connected. So then I brought the Vectrex in and plagged the cart into it. Ran the exe file again and then turned on the Vec. Still wouldn't show connected. Am I doing this right?
moycon
Note : The problem was I was plugged into the wrong COMM port! The VecCart is GREAT! I highly recommend getting one if you own a Vectrex.
joeybastard
I bought one around Xmas. It is a GREAT product, well worth the dough. My one complaint is that the VecFlash menus are very dim so I have to raise the brightness to see them/pick a game and then lower it for the games. Not that big of deal really. LOL What really sucks is I had a system about 8 years ago that was virtually hum free...and I wound up selling it when I bought my house!!! DAMN! joeybastard
Mines noisy but it doesn't bother me. I have to find a permanent spot for mine, right now I keep setting it up in different spots because at this point I have too much stuff in my gameroom. It's not exactly a bad situation to be in
Lord Helmet
Mine buzzes pretty good. I gotta get a VecFlash so I can play all of the homebrew I have been hearing about. Edited January 13, 2006 by Lord Helmet
uosipa llamxew
The VecFlash is great! The only thing I don't like is that I have to haul my Vectrex into the computer room each time I flash the cart. That's only temporary though because I'll be moving an older PC into the gameroom to use for DOS games and with my VecFlash, Krokocart, and Supercharger! So... how many of you have one of Richard's multi-console adapters adapters so that you can use it with your ColecoVision!? I bought myself one for Christmas. There are a lot of great arcade ports on the ColecoVision!
Richard H.
The only thing I don't like is that I have to haul my Vectrex into the computer room each time I flash the cart I've got a solution to that (more details soon)
Zonie
I read that there is a buzz fix. It involves moving the sound board away from the flyback transformer, which is the cause of the buzz. I'll look for that and post if I find it again.

uosipa llamxew
I bought mine for 35 dollars shipped! You will need to buy a ColecoVision PCB from Atariage to connect to. They are 8 dollars. some more info: The adapter consists and a PCB (which the VecFlash plugs into) and a ribbon cable and IDC connector (which an AA CV PCB plugs into). It doesn't come with the CV board (32K with socket version). You need to load the games with the MultiFlash loader, and then they are selected with a DIP switch (with CV power off) and hitting reset runs the game. The VecFlash must be programmed in the Vectrex (not CV).
Richard H.
Had a few PCB's made of a VecFlash power board. Basically, you slot the VF into it and then hook up a 6v-12v DC PSU (and the serial lead) and then you can program it without console. I might start making them if enough VF owners find such a thing useful. Edited February 10, 2006 by Richard H.
maibock
I still have to get my vec-flash order in.. maybe this afternoon if things are slow.. Speaking of the buzz noise - I was expecting this after reading about its notoriety, and the one I just got hums when I turn the volume up pretty loud.. guess I lucked out with this one fun system indeed - having a blast with it

I haven't done it yet, but it looks like it involves substituting insulated coaxial cable for the sound wire, and routing it away from the monitor. quiet_vectrex.pdf
