Han
Hello All, Long time since I last was here, it's about time to return. The site seems to thrive. I am in need of some help: I just bought a Vectrex today, my second one. The unit was broken, but I needed another controller and I was hoping to be able to fix it. The unit got sound but no picture, you can hear Minestorm after powerup. So far I have been able to figure out that the powerboard is not receiving one of its needed 8.6VAC feeds. The voltage is correct before the volume/power switch, but drops to 0 after the switch. So I assume the problem lies in the volume/power potentiometer (the sounds is crackling as well when you change volume). Does anyone here know of a place to buy a replacement volume/power potentiometer? I have been thinking of actually just bypassing the switch, and connect the missing feed straight to the powerboard, but I am not sure that is a good idea... Han
Well, I got it working, if anyone's interested. It turned out to be a dried up solder joint on the power switch. So thankfully I didn't have to try and find a replacement switch...

jsoper
Good job, fixing a Veccy is always a rush. I modded mine for less noise and the controller didn't work when I was done. Was furious at myself until found a board trace that got scraped and broken.
Han
Thx, I already had a Vectrex since before. But it wasn't in very good condition and it was really noisy. Just waited for it to explode in my face when playing . The new one, that I managed to fix, is MUCH less noisy and also in good condition. I am glad I didn't have to try the noise fix...
