Cpuwiz, I guess you are right. I cant find any difference to Puzzys final release of Space Tunnel.

One point is interesting. The game is in an Star Soft case. The initials S.S. are on the backside of the cover - I think for a BitCorp/Puzzy release strange indeed!

But a nice add to my collection anyway :D

I doubt they are prototypes, although no one really seems to know from where they originate. I also have a 4 of them. See http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31503 There might actually be more threads about them but this was the only one i could find at the moment...

Cheers,

Raymond

@Raymond,

but my one still contains an EPROM. So I guess, its not only a cart with a weak label  :D

Actually i don't know what my carts have inside (can't remember if i ever opened them up). But having an EPROM inside doesn't guarantee a prototype :D Interestingly enough i have seen a number of these carts on eBay in the last few years, i should have kept a list of the titles (which ofcourse i didn't).

Maybe they are the PAL variant of Beagle Brothers carts :cool:

And on the point of just because it has EPROMs it isn't a proto is more truth than fiction. Several later released 7800 games and 2600 games are actually EPROMs. I believe 7800 Tomcat is notorious for being on EPROM and I know that on mine, I can see the inverter plain as day right there in the front middle of the cart just a bit behind the contacts.

Yep, otherwise you'd have to call all Chuckwagon and Lochjaw (there are more than just these two) carts, protos. :P

  • 3 weeks later...

For some years I found too one from these games with this strange sticker. Have too think it can be a Protoype. But another German collector found at least one complete with Box. So it seems no Prototype. Just a normal release with cheap sticker.
