ijor
I’m trying to collect ROM dumps for the 810 drive. If somebody has an 810 ROM that it can dump, or you dumped already, I’ll appreciate you post, PM, email or whatever you prefer. Please try to note the ROM revision letter. Apparently they are not marked in the chip as they are in the 1050, so please note the full Atari part code to help tracking. Third party ROM replacements are welcome as well (FAST, THE CHIP). Btw, somebody was asking about a problem with an 810 drive with a too variable RPM. I recently read about this behavior when revising 810 documentation. But don’t remember who asked or where??? Bryan
I'll try to get one made today. I think my burner will read the ROM as a 2532 (then I need to cut the image in half). -Bry
Bryan
Okay, I just dumped this one from my 810. What a pain in the ass. Atari's schematics show the ROM as having 2 active low CS lines and one high one, but they're actually all active high. I finally got it all wired up so the burner would read it. It turns out to be the same as the one I got off the web. Here are the chip markings: [sYNERTEK LOGO] 8229 C68168 C011299C-03 © ATARI 1978 A810.zip

Sorry about that, I had no idea it would be so complicated. I guess it means that it can't be dumped with a standard ROM reader/EPROM burner (not without some wiring), right? [sYNERTEK LOGO] 8229C68168 C011299C-03 © ATARI 1978 Not sure, but I think this is revision C. May be the last "C" in the atari part number stands for revision? Somebody has any idea about which or how many versions were released by Atari? I'm suspecting this one was the latest. If somebody has a different part number, please let us know even if you can't dump the ROM.

IIRC, when you order mask ROMs you can specify the CS polarities for your application (like that inverted CS in 2600 ROMs). This makes it tough to dump them even if they use a standard pinout. -Bry
re-atari
As a followup of the discussion in http://atariage.com/forums/topic/257578-happy-810-resources/I will post the contents of the rom in my 810 here. That is, as soon as I have it dumped succesfully, am having the same difficulties as Bryan experienced. The markings on the rom say: [sYNERTEK LOGO] 8013C48240C011299B-03 So, by the looks of it, this is a version B rom. As I wrote in the above mentioned thread, the A8 hardware faq states version C was released in november 1981, where my rom was manufacured in week 13 of 1980. re-atari Edited October 25, 2016 by re-atari
re-atari
Here are a few photo's of my 810's internals. The Atari partnrs. for the boards are as follows: - power board: C017760 - side board: C014024 - rev 9 - data separator board: C017227 - rev 1 I couldn't find a partnr. on the analog board. The drive mechanism is the garage door type. The dump of the rom will follow ASAP, next weekend I will give reading its contents another go. re-atari Edited October 26, 2016 by re-atari

+kheller2
Did Atari ever release official documented 810ROM code?
