atwwong
UPDATE:Thanks to Nathan's tips (and some heavy cheating) I managed to get down to the maze section. Unfortunately there seems to be a serious bug there, because sometimes I die without reason. Or did I miss something? :!: I noticed this as well, as it happened in two areas of the maze. Somehow I managed to get through because I was cheating with the Stella emulator save and load states. Are you using the binary on real hardware, or an emulator? Albert, is the binary in the AtariAge database the final version? Is this a bug? Ack! I already ordered a cart! As for the apparent bug, I haven't seen it myself, but I can try to test it on hardware if you can provide details on how to make it happen. It wasn't from running out of fuel, was it? I still had plenty of fuel left. I was using the Stella emulator, so it is a possibility that it is an emulator issue. Stupid me erased the save state where the error was occurring, so I'll have to get to that level again (it's the one where you encounter the maze-type building-looking level). Albert, is the binary in the AtariAge database the final version? Is this a bug? Ack! I already ordered a cart! Hi there, I've done extensive testing with this game and have never seen this behavior. Can you provide screenshots or a more detailed description of when and where this happens? Are you on a particular level when it happens? (ie. # of flags) Are the difficultly switches on or off? Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Hi johnnywc! It only happens in the maze-type building area. I had a save state where it was occurring but I erased it ; I'll try to get to that area again. I was using the latest Stella emulator in Windows, so that could have been the problem. Difficulty switches were set to b. Maybe Thomas has more info right now... Tony ***Edit*** The ship exploding bugs appear to be squashed in a fix; all the AtariAge carts released will contain the fixed binary. Now johnnywc can finish squashing insects in another game... +johnnywc
Hello all, :!: I noticed this as well, as it happened in two areas of the maze. Somehow I managed to get through because I was cheating with the Stella emulator save and load states. Are you using the binary on real hardware, or an emulator? Albert, is the binary in the AtariAge database the final version? Is this a bug? Ack! I already ordered a cart! The bug occurs when you shoot on the right side of the screen in the maze area. Note that there is never a reason to fire on the right side in the maze as all of the obstacles appear in the middle. With that said, the bug has been fixed. All carts shipped from AA will have the updated ROM with this bug removed. Thanks,

ZylonBane
The release of Conquest of Mars is insanely cool, yet sad. I guess this confirms that there won't be a Flashback 2 Rev C? So Johnny, are you really going to force someone to hack the Caverns of Mars graphics back in?
Mayhem
I take it then the ROM in the AA database still contains the bug?
keitaro
I tried the rom in a emulator. It´s awesome, the concept (I love to see new "classic space shoters" in the 2600), intro, high score feature... It will pal version available? I´m thinking of get one

A complete 100 percent picture perfect port to the 2600 of the 8bit version CAVERNS OF MARS exists already but it will not be released. Besides Conquest is way better anyhow, trust me I have both of them sitting on my HDD Edited June 12, 2006 by Shawn Sr.

I think you are exaggerating a bit, only one game was discussed (Conquest of Mars), and a single problem with it (which has since been addressed). ..Al
