Nukey Shay
Now that people have started hacking 2600 roms to look more like the arcade versions...does anyone have any ideas for hacking arcade roms to look more like the 2600 ports (just for fun, of course). I think it would be cool to see how these games might have looked if the 2600 had arcade-perfect gameplay. BTW although Mame might gripe about checksums, I found that older emus mostly ignore them (like Sparcade...I edited the 1d-1 rom in Berzerk so that Otto sticks his tongue out at you using 2600GFX). eric_ruck
Don't know about hacking to look like 2600 ports, but I remember that there is this guy who does hacks for Atari vector games to do things like add extra variations to Tempest, or make (I think) Major Havoc and Black Widow play on the same machine. Actually I think this last one was planned but not completed, which is too bad since I have a Black Widow.
Nostalgic
A hack of Tempest was made a number of years ago, creating sixteen new boards. It was included in Atari Greatest Hits for the PC as Tempest Tubes. I've seen a Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man ROM hack that changes the graphics to look like the 2600 version, but I can't remember where... Some have already been done! The ones that spring to mind are hacks of the arcade Donkey Kong, Pacman, and Mspacman. All were hacked to look just like their 2600 counterparts. They did a pretty good job except in Donkey Kong where the only thing missing is an alteration of Kong's graphic itself. I got these hacks at Jerky's a while ago, but it looks like that page is long gone. I probably have it stored on my HD somewhere though.... let me know if you want me to search for it. Hakogame 箱亀
it's not a 2600 look alike hack, but I've got a nifty hack of Ms.pacman I made on my site. Click my signature, and either go to the about me page, or the upstairs game room to find and download it. I made the hack with Turaco (for graphics) and AGE (to hack the text).
